Where do you fit in: Gamerlife. How did you get there? How did you evolve? Devolve?
Im pretty much a 90% Xbox, 8% PC, 1.8% PS and 0.2% Phablet type of gamer.
But it was not always so ...
Ive gone through bouts of being an 100% PC gamer douche-bag, touting virtual bigness at console gamers.
Only to do a 180 and being a 100% PS gamer, touting virtual bigness at PC gamers. But failing miserably, and enjoying being the underdog in this little fanboy war. Is it popular these days to be on the weaker side?
WHAT IS THE WEAKER SIDE ANYWAY ?
Having friends and/or acquaintances on all sides of this game makes for an interesting snapshot of "acceptance" or /friend request. Do you actually know people who think x of you because you dont play y system anymore ? Actually, I think i do! Maybe it isnt IN YOUR FACE type bluntness, just subtle comments. Casual gamer this or master race that. Makes for interesting fanboy epeens thats for sure.
So lets see. Where did it all begin, how did it happen. Lets see how this looks as a Killer Python:
Amstrad > Sega Master System > PC > PS1 > Xbox > PS2 > PC > PS3 > Wii > PC > PS3 > Xbox 360 > Xbox One ...
And that ... is my "Gaming Killer Python" ...
Mine certainly jumps around a lot over its 25 year life cycle. I think i was around 8 or so when my Dad bought an Amstrad. Ill say it was anyway. And looking at it, it jumps around based on who I was hanging out with at the time, what "gaming crew". Or what people were hanging out with me because "He has a new 486 PC ... whoa".
What other factors are there? All systems get old. All systems will eventually fail and get replaced. "Ohh man this PC is SO OLD, IT SUCKS ... OHH a shiny new PS1" ::buys it:: ::happy as a pig in $hit:: ... for this system cycle anyway.
Of course financial situations are a massive factor. You get booted out of home, you have your PC from a birthday a few years back. You can afford to upgrade your obsolete system or eat / pay rent ?
So here lies the BIG QUESTION: How did I end up a majority Console (Xbox) gamer?
System Life Cycle + Friends + Financial Situation = Type of gamer you are?
Yeah. Nah. But maybe ?
I have 220+ games in my Steam Library which could be played. But I would rather sit on the couch and play the Xbox. But, playing a FPS on the Xbox, I use a keyboard and mouse? Figure that out. Why not play the PC and be done with it ?
Friends. That has to be it. My mates play console games, and I enjoy the connection we have and sharing game lols ?
Yeah. Nah. But maybe ?
I think it will be interesting to see, in another 20+ years time, what my "Gaming Killer Python" will look like. Will it regress ? Or will it follow the same trend ?
Who knows ?
