Sol Fertilis: Concubinatus
Concubinatus is a quasi-marriage between an Alpha and a Gamma Minus sex worker. This was created to be a temporary solution to the long Alpha-Omega Matchmaking waiting list in the post-war era of Sol Fertilis, as there is a need for more Alpha and Omega babies. However, as time goes on, it has become permanent, but with rigorous requirements.
Unmarried Gamma Minuses are the lowest of the ranks if you exclude the Droughters, which is so low that they are not a part of the hierarchy. As a result, they are the only rank that can be put as sex workers. The ratio of unmarried Alphas to unmarried Omegas is 3:1, compared to the ratio of unmarried Alphas to unmarried Gamma Minuses is 1:8. The Ministry of Fertility and the Ministry of Pleasure came up with a plan that is meant to relieve the waiting list.
These are the strict requirements to have a Concubinatus;
The Alpha had to have at least one child, either biological or adopted.
The Alpha had to be confirmed fertile.
The Alpha must be either unmarried or widowed, but not divorced.
The Alpha must score at least 90% on the National Loyalty Test.
The Alpha must not have a criminal record and must be in the Prima Class
The Alpha must be physically fit.
These are the strict requirements to be a Concubina;
The Gamma Minus had to be confirmed fertile.
The Gamma Minus had to be a Courtesan beforehand.
The Gamma Minus must score at least 85% on the National Loyalty Test, making her at least a Secunda Class.
The Gamma Minus must have a 95% literacy.
The Gamma Minus must be physically fit.
The Gamma Minus had to commit to her role as a Concubina.
The Courtesan could reject the Alpha’s offer to become a Concubina, and her decision cannot be influenced. If she accepted, the Alpha must pay the Concubinatus Dowry of 500,000 Novas (370,000 USD) to the Courtesan’s Pleasure Venue as compensation for her removal from service and future earnings. She is then sent to Matuta County, where the Concubinatus Ceremony must be held. Matuta County is chosen due to being the main temple of Aurora Mater, the patron goddess of Gamma Minuses and sex work.
Before the ceremony, both the Alpha and the chosen Courtesan undergo a ritual purification, where they are bathed separately by temple attendants and dressed in ceremonial garments. The Alpha wears black, symbolizing power and virility, while the Courtesan is clothed in mauve. As they enter the temple hall, incense of beer and bread fills the air while priestesses chant hymns invoking Aurora Mater.
The pair stands before the High Priestess with their hands extended above a bronze bowl filled with coins, rose petals, and sacred beer. They recite their oaths: the Alpha pledges financial protection, provision, and dignified treatment; the Courtesan promises sexual obedience, fertility, and loyalty so long as she is not abused. After the vows, each receives a symbol of the union. The Alpha is presented with a black-gold ring engraved with the Sol Fertilian emblem and the name of his Concubina. The Courtesan then kneels to receive a luxurious collar, mauve leather with gold designs and white frills, and a tag bearing the Alpha’s family name. The design is of the Alpha’s choice. The ring represents ownership with responsibility; the collar represents submission sanctified by Aurora Mater.
The Alpha kisses the collar, never her lips, marking the union. The High Priestess blesses the collar with anointing oil and proclaims: “Let her bear fruit as your dawn; by Aurora Mater’s will may her womb awaken.”
Finally, the couple is escorted to a private chamber where they must consummate the union. Temple attendants remain outside until the act is completed, signaling official recognition with temple drums. Once the pair emerge, wearing their ring and collar, they are greeted with cheers of “Lux, Libido, Aurora!”, meaning “Light, Desire, Dawn”, formally marking the Courtesan as a Concubina, now sealed to her Alpha under Sol Fertilian law.
After the ceremony, the new Concubina is taken to her private quarters known as the Mauve Harem, a luxury suite that is located close to the Alpha’s room/Master Bedroom. She is attended at all times by a personal servant called a Harem Maid, a specially trained Gamma Minus responsible for the Concubina’s comfort, grooming, and daily needs. Harem Maids are selected from among the Antepuellas who previously served the Concubina back when she still worked as a Courtesan.
Although a Concubina is legally forbidden from driving herself, she is still allowed limited mobility outside the Alpha’s residence. For such occasions, she is assigned her own personal chauffeur and rides in a vehicle marked with a distinct mauve license plate, identifying it as Concubinatus transport. This allows her to travel (for medical appointments, temple visits, official ceremonies, or discreet errands) without her Alpha present, while still signaling her protected and regulated status to authorities and the public.
Despite her elevated status and new residence, a Concubina is still permitted to maintain ties with her past life. She may visit her old friends at the Pleasure Venue during their off-duty hours, allowing her to keep her social bonds, share news, and preserve her Gamma Minus identity.
Concubina is granted far more freedom in her wardrobe than a working Gamma Minus. For everyday wear, she may choose refined leisure clothing such as luxury skirt-suits, silken blouses, and tailored dresses; for holidays at seaside estates, she is even permitted to wear designer bikinis and lighter resort attire. At formal state occasions, she wears extravagant Pompadour-style gowns inspired by rococo court fashion.
During a Concubina’s Birthing Ceremony, the event is highly controlled and restricted. Only her Harem Maid and the Alpha’s Gamma Minus staff are permitted to assist, ensuring privacy and adherence to ritual protocol. Sex workers are strictly forbidden from attending. Once the child is born, it is immediately cleaned, swaddled, and presented first to the Alpha, reflecting his legal status as the father and primary guardian. The mother is then allowed to hold the child after approximately thirty minutes.
Interestingly, children born to a Concubina are never Beta Minus or Gamma Minus. Instead, they are born as Omegas approximately eighty percent of the time, with the remaining twenty percent being Alphas. This trend appears to be a beneficial counterbalance, especially considering the previously very low Omega birthrate before this plan was implemented.
If a Concubina’s Alpha master dies, her status and guardianship are formally transferred to the Alpha’s firstborn child, who assumes responsibility for her care. She may either continue to live in a private residence controlled by the heir, maintaining her position within the household hierarchy, or she may choose to reside with her biological children, ensuring a closer maternal bond. This system preserves her protected status while maintaining continuity of household authority and familial oversight.
