#PackeraGanderi / #GandersRagwort. It looks like an ordinary little daisy but it’s actually a fairly rare #CaliforniaEndemic with a limited range and restricted to gabbroic soils. There are said to be only about 4000 plants in existence, but they’re #firefollowers so I’m hoping that these ones will start to reproduce. . I had actually shrugged these off thinking they might be some other common daisy or sunflower that looks similar. When I finally went and got a closer look at it and identified it online, I realized that I was actually seeing a species unique to my area, found nowhere else in the world. Moral of the story: look around you! Take time to learn about your local wildlife, even the “boring” stuff. Respect it.
