Fun fact: wearing on your left wrist a red string that has been wrapped around Rachel’s tomb as a talisman to ward off the evil eye is a Jewish folk tradition, particularly popular in Israel. It’s debatable whether it’s a Kabbalistic practice or if it’s recent in origin, but hey, new traditions have to start some time.

I guess Rich chose this because the Western Continent is the stock Vaguely Middle Eastern Fantasy Setting in OotS? Maybe not the best choice considering that comparing Jews to lizards can be an antisemitic thing, but I don’t think he was implying anything bad and tbh I get excited over literally any acknowledgement of Jewish culture other than brief Chanuka mentions or NYC stereotypes {actually I’m so desperate that I get excited over those too).
