D I O R . Fall 1998. Quilted puffa coats and shawls, quilting, lace trimmed dresses and metallic brocades and embroidery that resembled tin foil, I remember this collection being dubbed "Garbage Couture" ( Think My Fair Lady turfed onto the streets ). Garbage inspired, but this couture was only affordable for the obscenely wealthy. Dior under John Galliano's lead was really becoming the label of choice by now and one of the most eagerly awaited every season. The campaign ( somewhat subdued to the runway presentation ) featured a brunette Kate and Russian beauty, Nathalia Semoniva, both showcasing some of the most wearable looks from the collection. Those bright, clashing, red, pink and yellow ensembles, and the sleek and slender, feminine dresses in classic Dior grey.
