Let's talk about deficiency this morning. Specifically nutrient deficiencies. In the first 2 pics are green beans. These have a slight nitrogen deficiency. As a rule, it's an easy fix. Can be as simple as adding spent coffee grounds around the base of the plants. Nitrogen issues show themselves by yellowing the leaves starting with the bottom. In the third pic is a tomato with blossom end rott which is caused by a calcium and magnesium deficiency. I say both because 90% of the time if you have a calcium issue, you also have a magnesium issue. They go hand in hand which is why the typical liquid fixer for them comes as calmag which is both together. Now if you don't want to buy liquid ferts to fix this, plenty of people have fixed it with powdered egg shells and Epsom salt. Epsom salt is just magnesium, nothing more. With blossom end rott, I tend to like liquid fixers over powdered or granular. It works better for me but that may not be the case for you.
