Thought i would show something a little different but still sorta on the same line. These are organic "living" herbs from a grocery store. They're aren't terribly expensive, are organic and can be bought with EBT. Usually you can find them for around $2.50 or $3. If you plant them, they will continue to provide for you for a long time. Several of my sage plants and my oregano were from these and they are going strong years later. My giant rosemary in the front of my house came from one of these packages too and now I'm rooting shoots off it to make more rosemary plants to share with friends and family. In this planter I have chives, dill, thyme and mint. Really the mint should be in its own container and I'll get it there once I get more dirt but for now they go in here. ( I have a tendency to kill mint anyway, just a gift I have I guess) 🌿🌱🌿 #plants #frugal #homesteading #homestead #gardening #garden #herbs #growfoodnotlawns #urbanfarm #urbanhomestead #microhomestead #microfarm #planting #frugaltips #permaculture #growyourown https://www.instagram.com/p/CWETya-vFZm/?utm_medium=tumblr
first time growing #mousemelon on the #microhomestead … such an adorably weird looking #cucurbit but not as tasty as i hoped
Did ramen bowls for my oldests birthday, Asian food of any kind is Thier favorite food type. They'll be 14.....😳damn time flies.... This has ramen on the bottom layer, then a panko breaded fried pork cutlet, stir fried peppers and kale, with a runny fried egg and chili garlic sauce with a spicy teriyaki main sauce. Was devoured promptly by everyone in the house. It's missing some green onions but I just trimmed them yesterday for dinner so I didn't have any for today. Still amazing. Kale and eggs came from our homestead #homemade #homestead #homesteading #ramen #japaneseramen #stirfry #gardening #garden #urbanhomestead #urbanfarm #microhomestead #microfarm #growfood #homecooked #asianfood https://www.instagram.com/p/CdHmnsZOqxP/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
This is why I make my own breads. I bought a loaf of "fresh baked" bread from the store, in hind sight, I new better, but I live on the surface of the sun and didn't want to bake. I opened it to make a sandwich and it just smelled awful, like preservative and mold despite there being no mold at all. Couldn't even make my self take a bite. I chucked it. And proceeded to suck it up and bake some buns ( and chocolate chip cookies while I had the oven on) my house smells like what I think and old world bakery would smell like. These buns are Beautiful and soft and taste absolutely amazing. I'm going to try and do some videos in the future about baking and bread making even tho I'm not a big video person but I understand that that's the preferred media method anymore.....my issue is public speaking fills me with anxiety, typing stuff out is a lot different than talking live or on video. Have always had it, was traumatized in highschool involving public speaking which just made it worse, but I feel like I need to get.over this hurdle to help people become less dependant on store bought junk and preservatives. Anyway. If I were to do some videos, what are some things you would want to learn about? #homestead #homemade #bread #homesteading #urbanfarm #urbanhomestead #microhomestead #microfarm #garden #gardening #dependlessonstores #baking #permaculture #cooking #selfsufficient #selfsufficiency https://www.instagram.com/p/CS2vrBlr84p/?utm_medium=tumblr
should not be left alone unsupervised with money in a nursery 🤣🌿🌾🌺
I got catnip, several mint varieties, basil, peppers, tomatoes, tomatillos, eggplants, watermelon, honeydew melon, crookneck squash and planted more hot pepper seeds, dark green zucchini and golden zucchini.

Let's talk about deficiency this morning. Specifically nutrient deficiencies. In the first 2 pics are green beans. These have a slight nitrogen deficiency. As a rule, it's an easy fix. Can be as simple as adding spent coffee grounds around the base of the plants. Nitrogen issues show themselves by yellowing the leaves starting with the bottom. In the third pic is a tomato with blossom end rott which is caused by a calcium and magnesium deficiency. I say both because 90% of the time if you have a calcium issue, you also have a magnesium issue. They go hand in hand which is why the typical liquid fixer for them comes as calmag which is both together. Now if you don't want to buy liquid ferts to fix this, plenty of people have fixed it with powdered egg shells and Epsom salt. Epsom salt is just magnesium, nothing more. With blossom end rott, I tend to like liquid fixers over powdered or granular. It works better for me but that may not be the case for you. Hope this little bit helps #garden #homesteading #gardenissues #gardening #growyourownfood #growfoodnotlawns #homestead #homesteadlife #permaculture #urbanfarm #urbanhomestead #microfarm #microhomestead #tomatoes #veggies https://www.instagram.com/p/COxv5g4Hjky/?igshid=1beksi5xsku22
The ripening has begun 🥰 This is my San marzano tomatoes. .so excited to finally get to grow these. They are a determinate type, which means that they should all start ripening around the same time. These will be made into spaghetti sauce and pizza sauce. I can't wait!!! What's growing in your garden that you are excited for this year? #garden #gardening #homestead #homesteadinglife #homesteadculture #homesteadimg #microhomestead #microfarm #urbanfarm #urbanhomestead #permaculture #tomatoes #cannimg #growyourowmfood #growfoodnotlawns #growingfood https://www.instagram.com/p/CPV6jWKHhuW/?utm_medium=tumblr
