Finally got to visit Taiping Zoo and I must say it was worth the drive! This is Malaysia’s oldest zoo set in the lush greenery of Taiping Lake Gardens, and I love the fact that enclosures were made with the animals, not visitors in mind. Animals were in good health and for the most part not displaying signs of stress. Highlights of my visit : being able to see a clouded leopard for real, a pack of red dholes with new pups, and Steven, a heavy machinery operator by day and zoo guide volunteer by night, who was clearly very excited about animals and shared just about everything he knew about every animal at the zoo!
