Garreth Dalgorel art I made for @candlemouse :)
Today is the three year anniversary of the first chapter of Heir to Light! (My Fablehaven medieval fantasy fic with royalty, magic, and a strong Garreth/Kendra subplot)
So, three things!
The artwork above is something I made several years ago, but never posted because the scene was actually scrapped. However, Garreth does technically carry Kendra like this in Chapter XIII (unintentional). But since the fic is coming to an end, I figured now was a good time to post it...and I lost the license to the art software over a year ago so I wasn't going to be able to work on it anymore anyway.
I have written the last 8 chapters! It will add about 30,000 words. I just need to edit and publish. I will definitely have everything published by the end of July, but I’m thinking earlier.
Here is the chapter that I posted today!
OFFICIAL REMATCH BETWEEN BRQCKEN THE HORNLESS UNICORN, AND GARRETH DALGOREL!

Garreth art anyone? *rattles can*
Some Garreth and Eve for fun
I chose a scene from Dragonwatch book 1 Chapter 17 when Garreth covered Kendra with his jacket because she felt cold. It was so cute ♡
Chaos and Order
For @carolinelikesdinner hope you like it

Eve giggled as she slipped through the city. Ignoring the surprised shouts behind her.
So far, she’d paint bombed three merchants, superglued a dozen doors shut or open, depending on how often it gets used (the more often ones were shut, the less often open), and put wrapping paper on all the stuff in her dad’s office.
Today was fun.
++++++++++
Garreth scowled as he helped the merchant clean up paint.
So far, he’d helped two merchants clean up paint, unglued eight doors, and had to remove the wrapping paper off of everything in his dad’s office.
Today was horrible.
++++++++++
Eve laughed as she watched the other Fair Folk try to figure out what happened to their clothes, she’d dyed them all black!
It was permanent too!
Revenge for making her wear that stupid dress yesterday.
They’d have to either live with the black or make new clothes.
She was satisfied.
++++++++++
Garrreth groaned as he went through his closet. He was so glad that the missing black dye had been mislabeled.
He pulled out the remover, the dye was temporary dye that had been mixed up with permanent. And thank goodness cause it was missing now and he had a pretty good idea of who had taken it seeing how his closet was now all black.
And so was everyone else’s.
Eve you absolute pain.
++++++++++
Eve looked at the merchant hopefully. It was a travelling Fair Folk merchant from another preserve.
He didn’t know Eve, and no one had warned him.
This was great.
“If you’re willing to work then I guess you could come along.”
Yes, she would finally get to see the world!
++++++++++
Garreth groaned as he raced after the merchants.
They’d left the preserve three days ago, and they’d taken Eve with them.
Dad almost had a heart attack.
He had to follow on their fastest horse for two days before he finally caught up.
“Excuse me,” He said, “But that’s my sister, who isn’t supposed to leave Terrebella.”
The panic on the merchant’s face at finding out they’d unwittingly kidnapped the young princess would’ve been funny if he wasn’t in so much trouble for not preventing it in the first place.
They ended up giving him his pick of supplies as an apology, and then he grabbed his sister and started back.
++++++++++
“I was so close to exploring!”
“Eve, I swear, just please stop causing trouble for one day.”
“Hmmph.”
If you could be bffs with any non-main fablehaven character, who would you pick?
Eve and Garreth would be such good friends I can feel it in my bones
