this question is complicated but favourite character from each 3d movie in g1? I assume you have seen them all but all good if otherwise
If yer familiar w me you already know my absolute favs ( Robecca Venus Rochelle Operetta and Wydowna ) so, if they do something in the movies, they are usually automatically one of my favorite parts of said movie. To keep this list from being too repetitive, I'll be choosing more than one and trying to focus a little more on the rest. And anyway, regardless of how I felt about a specific movie, I almost always have a hard time choosing just one fav lol
New Ghoul At School: Either Frankie or Lagoona. They're my faves of the main ghouls so naturally I love it when they're on screen. I also like that Lagoona wasn't immediately in the friend group yet still a friend to Frankie, makes it feel a little more... Natural ? Idk I like how the group came together on their own and weren't immediately all friends and that Lagoona and Frankie had a unique friendship.
Fright On: ... Fffffff. Uh. Frankie naturally. I'd say Lagoona but she didn't do much. I really liked Abbey and Bloodgood here, though ! I miss pre flanderized Abbey so much, she had so much flavor and was more interesting, and seeing Bloodgood actually get to do something and show her personality was really refreshing and fun !
Friday Night Frights: now time for the actual 3d movies. Operetta Venus Robecca Rochelle who here is surprised ? 3/4 of them were very significant anyway lol. I do like that Clawd got to actually do something though
Ghouls Rule: the big 4™ and Jackson n Holt. I don't usually give a fuck about either of them, especially Jackson ( the fandom sorta ruined him for me ), but I found them pretty okay this time and I really like the biracial allegory. I liked seeing Jackson not be some sopping wet cat loser and Holt not constantly being so confident, it was a nice change of pace and good characterization.
Escape From Skull Shores: Gil and Lagoona. It was nice to see Gilagoona's issues, both separately and as a couple, actually expanded upon instead of the same recycled story. We got to see how Gil's parents' influence still affects him despite previous and continued efforts to do better and be better than what he was taught, essentially that his path isn't perfect, and his distaste for the sea and the literal creatures in it was executed tastefully. And Lagoona's lack of a sense of danger and Rose Colored Glasses mindset being expanded on more was fun and interesting to see, and I honestly wished we could've seen more of it. I know I already detailed my own ( heavily work in progress ) rewrite of GSR, but I think that would've been the perfect time for another moment of Lagoona's recklessness getting her in trouble. I also liked that we see Gil is more than willing to get over it™ and stop whining if it means doing the right thing, like how he got a bunch of sea creatures to save everyone.
Why Do Ghouls Fall In Love: Cupid. I don't like Draculaura nor Clawd I find Valentine to be whatever I don't find Toralei all that fun I specifically don't like how Clawd is treated here Me No Likey. So naturally my favorite of the movie is Cupid even though bro didn't do much
Scaris: Jina and Skelita. They're my honorable mentions™ faves and I ship them and they're wonderful. If you hold hatred in your heart for Skelita ( unless it's valid criticism ) I don't trust you /j. I also really REALLY liked Rochelle and Frankie's side quest with finding Garrott and I like Garrott quite a bit, too ! Clawdeen's plot was also amazing and really nice to see her get something ! All in all I have a lot of faves and major likes in this movie ! And the scene where Robecca slowed down just to record Venus 🥰
13 Wishes: Gigi, Howleen, and Twyla. And the fantastic four again. I find myself strangely very drawn to Gigi, especially my personal design for her. I find her really cute and really tragic, I honestly wanna hug her :[ and Twyla... Lightheartedly was kinda stupid in this movie for the first half. But otherwise I thought she was really funny and awesome ! And also we got more expansion on Howleen from what we saw in Fright On and it was heart wrenching aughhhh :[[
Frights Camera Action: Robecca, Hoodude, Honey, Viperine, and Elissabat. And Operetta and Wydowna but they didn't really do anything I'm just biased. We got more Robecca characterization and her n Hexiciah lore ( even though imo the way he was introduced in this lore was awkward ), Hoodude characterization, and Honey Viperine and Elissabat. Honey is so fucking adorable I genuinely need to punch people who don't like her as a person. You hate this sweetie pie for being a sweetie pie who loves filming and having fun ? Shame on you. Execution. Viperine is pretty cool and silly :]. I have to admit most of my like for Elissabat is because I'm a Hollow Knight fan, but still. And anyways I usually like the dark and mysterious characters. Viperine x Honey goes hard btw. And seeing Robecca sometimes get a little grumpy, get gaslit by the heart, and probably have some comical hatred of Elissabat and Draculaura fries me
Freaky Fusion: Avea, Robecca, Frankie, and Hexiciah. Honorable mention to Neighthan. I'm gonna be honest if this movie wasn't partially Robecca centered I would not care for it. Avea is my favorite of the hybrids and the one I'd like to see more of, and to me he sticks out the most. Neighthan is admittedly a bit bland but had some interesting interactions with Frankie, and I'm glad unlike a lot of romances in Monster High that we actually get to see them being friends rather than just mostly romantic tension. Frankie's problem and them literally killing themself for their friends was cool and sad to see, and their parents keeping information of Viktor away makes me question what he did. Robecca my lovely little baby even when they've ruined your character by making you all about your dad and his lore you are still my wonderful baby. Hexiciah was pretty fun to watch in action too, and he's kinda funny ! Admittedly I'd like him more if it wasn't for what I just mentioned. Fuck I wanna say I liked Venus and Jin in this movie so badly but the writers fucked them both over so horribly that they might as well not even be there.
Haunted: Porter and Spectra. Dishonorable mention to Operetta and Johnny, man was Joperetta written so fucking terribly. It pains me to say this when I love both individually. Honorable mentions to Twyla Scarah Rochelle Vandala Kiyomi River and Past. I love that Porter is actually kind of a bad boy and not some totally misunderstood and slightly mischievous guy. Yeah Porter is a little misunderstood, and he means well politically / judicially, but he IS kind of a jerk and insensitive. And I'm glad that Spectra is written similarly, where she's insensitive and impulsive even if she does usually mean well, and both learn to do better by the end of the movie. However as much as I love Specter, the amount of romance by this point was getting overwhelming lol. The Kiyomi plot twist, River being adorable, and Vandala's bullshit were all also really fun to see ! Twyla was funny and her relationship with Rochelle is cute ! Scarah actually got to do something, and of the three ghosts I think Past is written the best and most fleshed out.
Boo York: ELLE EEDEEEE !!!! Honorable mentions to Luna and Mouscedes. Cleo and Deuce would be here too if Ramses and Deuce weren't hit with the Giga Fucking Moron beam and I fucking hate Nefera. Elle is honestly so so fun to me and I love her voice and she reminds me a lot of things I like ( Portal 1 and 2, Subnautica, and Kirby Planet Robobot ). Luna and Mouscedes are pretty cute little guys imo :>. I'd love to say I liked Frankie or Operetta but they didn't do a lot afair. I honestly find Catty really boring in the cartoon and Pharaoh is... I mean they're cute ! Nice design, cool voice, I like the trans coding... But that doesn't save them from being kinda nothing.
Great Scarier Reef: Gil and Peri n Pearl, especially Peri. how the fuck did they write Gil so well but fuck Lagoona over so terribly ? I understand giving Lagoona an actual Australian accent but ner new voice just isn't Lagoona man. The amount of plot holes and how much more wimpy Lagoona is too really disappointed me. Peri and Pearl were fun and cute though ! Honorable mention for Toralei and Kala. Kala is bumped down severely for that HORSESHIT ending, and I'm still not big on canon Toralei but they actually fleshed her out a little here
