Derek and Jamie and I stayed at the office blasting 2000s-era hip-hop and knocking out Summit tasks until 2:30 in the morning. I’ve felt overwhelmed for weeks and I was starting to think I wouldn’t even come close to accomplishing everything I need to before the event is upon us--October 15-16--but tonight was exactly what I needed. We got this.

Today was a long day. I woke up at home and drove to Norman to conduct interviews, then we had an after-dark shoot in OKC. Finally crawled into bed about 1am after a 17-hour day. But as Bryan and I are fond of saying, “There are worse ways to make a living” than getting to make short films for an engineering firm.

This was the coolest chain reaction contraption submission I’ve seen so far. These kids kicked it off with Mentos dropped into Coke bottles, which set off a chemical reaction that caused a toy tank to roll down a chute and eventually carried momentum through an entire three-room building.

As part of Garver’s Centennial Campaign, we’re giving money and STEM kits to 100 schools across the company footprint, based on nominations by our employees. Aunt Laura and I nominated Beebe Middle School, so we got to take them a check and their kit today. I took this picture and told them all to throw their hands out and scream, which mostly worked, but the teacher kind of looks like he’s giving the Nazi salute. That was an accident.

It’s been a long day, and we were in a rush to get into the air because there were storms between Kansas City and Little Rock. I sat in the copilot’s seat and got to watch as we weaved in and out of clouds like they used to do in TaleSpin, which was one of my favorite cartoons when I was in elementary school.

After years of preparation, the Communications Team is finally rolling out Garver’s Centennial Campaign, brand assets. We’re also launching our video that I wrote and Bryan put together (and we included a clip from this video of you blowing a kiss at the camera). We’re doing a webcast with a few of the different teams this afternoon to explain to them the importance of using these assets when selling our company across the footprint. This was one second before we went live.
