Lucy was treated to food from around the globe while attending the New York World's Fair in 1964. From a luncheon for 300 held at the Indonesia Pavilion to a special 'Lucy Luau' at the Hawaiian Pavilion, she also managed to put away snacks like dates and tea at the Morroco Pavilion, cheese fondue at the Switzerland Pavilion and strawberry waffles along the parade route. Fifty-nine years ago today, Lucy married Gary Morton at Marble Collegiate Church in New York City where an estimated 1500 people gathered outside to catch a glimpse of the newly betrothed couple. Friend and 'Wildcat' costar, Paula Stewart was Lucy's Maid of Honor. The reception was held at Lucy's apartment on East 69th Street. (Newspaper announcements in todays story line.) 'Lucy and Gary's wedding which was supposed to be a small and private affair, turned into a three-ring circus. Because of the time restraints, Lucy didn't want the press making a big deal over it. It was her second marriage but the press got a hold of it somehow, and the morning of the wedding there was such a mob scene that we could hardly get into the Marble Collegiate Church. The crowd had to be restrained by a police barricade. Lucy's bouquet was Lilies of the Valley and mine was baby orchids. Lucy was so radiant; I choked up completely through it all.
