I’m at the scene where Perish rapes Jade from the bottom and I think it’s super underrated as a scene but also as a trope in general. Raping from the bottom is so hot like omgggg more of that please waiter.

It also cracks me up how Jade is just like well. It’s not horrible I guess. Like I still don’t want to do this but at least he isn’t RAPING ME raping me. Very silly thought process but honestly Jade is a rapeslut to begin with so it’s no wonder he shrugs it off so easily.

I think I also like this scene so much because it’s the first time we truly see Reaver not in control of a situation OR in a state of mind where he feels like he’ll be able to somehow control a situation. In all other sticky scenarios in the past Reaver has still kept his pride and his attitude of being able to escape anything and Nero being able to completely fuck that up really is not only sexy but great from a character perspective as well for Reaver. I think this part and the emotional aftermath that follows are the first true instances of extreme character growth for Reaver. Also his emotional turmoil from being raped is hot.

This was the part I fell in love with Nero LOL like oh my god. Reading this over again is just as good as the first time around. He’s so fucked I love him dearly

I think this part with Nero is when I truly realized that qc would actually write anything in these books. Not just for the brutality of what Reaver goes through with Nero but for the fact that there’s absolutely no sentimentality given to the fact that Reaver wasn’t spared from rape. For some reason Reaver not being spared the brutality that the other characters also go through in this series finally clicked it into place in my head that this writer was for real and would not hold back on anything he wrote even if it’s upsetting or sad or goes against the grain of what a traditional romance book would do (which tbh these are barely even romance books they’re horror with romance subplots). I think it just kind of shocked me that Reaver wasn’t spared from Nero, he wasn’t saved in time, he was raped over and over and over again by Nero and Nero didn’t give a fuck that Silas wanted Reaver a virgin….idk 🤷 I’ll probably be able to type up more coherent thoughts about this later but I’ve been contemplating Nero + this part with him in particular all day.

Ughhh wait even before the proxy worms are INTRODUCED the focus on the worm imagery with Killian’s fear of maggots + Reaver here comparing his tendons to worms beneath his flesh….i honestly don’t know if this is intentional or not on qc’s part but im impressed either way

As much as Reaver pisses me the fuck off he is hilarious in moments like this. Bro 1. You did not rape a 14 year old be serious for a moment and 2. He’s so good at ragebaiting he’s able to do it to me through the fourth wall. It’s also just funny to me how he always has bravado regardless of the situation he’s in. Like he knows he’s about to be in for a no good very bad time but he’s still goading Kessler for no other reason than the love of the game. Supreme ragebaiter actually probably the best ragebaiter in fiction
