The Karakrum-class is one of many strange but awesome designs to come out of Yamato 2199 (well, technically 2202) that have been added to Bandai's Mecha Collection line of model kits. If you aren't familiar with them, these kits are no more than a few inches long, but are absolutely *loaded* with detail. They don't have any defined scale though, so they aren't usually to scale with each other.
By default, Karakrums are solid green with very little to break it up, which seems like a massive waste of detailing opportunities to me, so I painted mine to recreate Admiral Mazer's flagship (which doesn't seem to have had a name, according to the internet).
There's only one real flaw with this kit: the stand. It isn't wobbly or anything, but it slides over those flat protrusions beneath the ship, and it's rather tight, so it can easily scratch the paint if you aren't careful.
For a Mecha Collection kit, the Karakrum is actually quite large. In fact, I think it might be the largest one ever. I was expecting it to be around three inches long, like most of the rest, but it's actually more than twice that!
For size comparison, here it is beside the 1/350 Millennium Falcon and my other personal favorite from the Mecha Collection, the Deusura III. I wanted to do more with that kit, but I really like the way it looks like solid metal now.
