“Hey.” Gabriel said. “Funny seeing you here.” Not that he had furiously texted Diana with a flood of vague messages from his burner phone about desperately needing to meet. When it came to dealing with non-work and specifically, Savannah matters, Gabriel used the same number he used to make shady business negotiations. It was more difficult nowadays since his work phone was taken in and set up for security purposes. Fun.
He’d been in the book store for an hour already, and it took a lot of effort to avoid standing near the section about parenting. He feared Diana too much for what she’d say or react if he was waiting her by it. With any other person, it would’ve been hilarious. Instead, Gabriel was near the back with the magazines. He told Carrie he had gone to drinks with some pals, so he thought it was appropriate to read up on what the men magazine thought were the latest craft beers.
“Really, a shame places like this are empty.” His words were empty since he didn’t care about paperbacks losing popularity when he read his Wall Street Journal from a tablet every morning. “But hey, nothing wrong with just the two of us here.”
