DX Express Gavarian
With Omegahorn announced, and Gavan confirmed as a 2 quarter show, I'm actually pretty excited. The one-two punch of a new iteration of a well known series followed by a brand new Tokusatsu concept is very exciting for the things Project R.E.D. can accomplish. The one downside I see is that we probably won't ever get something grandiose like G12 or God King-Ohger out of anything R.E.D. will probably produce. Doesn't mean we won't see any neat Q2 combos, but the likelihood of seeing 3 combining robots is now slim.
The Good: Again, this line is a huge improvement over what we got from Gojyuger. We get an individual vehicle mode, a combined vehicle mode, a combined weapon mode, and a combined robot mode, meaning it can interact with everything Gavarion Trigger can do.
It doesn't transform much when swapping between all its train-esque forms, but upgrading the robot actually has some cool movements, including some flips, slides, etc. Even the head has a cool reveal.
The Bad: The large chest and backpack are held on each by a single c-clip, making me worried about future breakages and longevity. Also, that arm is heavy, and it feels like it can't hold it up very well. I wish there was something that also hooked it onto the shoulder.
Overall, if I was only going to grab one of the upgrades for Gavarion Trigger, I'm glad it was this one. Trigger does feel like it wants at least one of its armors, and from what I've seen, this one definitely interacts with the whole package the best. I might be convinced to go back and grab Dronado, if only because it provides a more interesting backpack and is the only upgrade for the cannon arm, but I'll probably sleep on that one.
