Common Loon (Gavia immer) in Algonquin Provincial Park. Fossils of Loon relatives (members of the Gaviiformes group) have been found in Cretaceous rocks, meaning that there were Loon-type Birds during the same time period as Tyrannosaurs (though not the same place, the Loon fossils so far found are from Chile and Antarctica). .
