"I’m over the moon about my first show in Paris next month💗 Last time I performed there was in stained-glass chapels and stone-walled cathedrals with a children’s choir when I was 13. With every visit since, the city of Paris manages to etch a new stripe of wonder across my mind. To be playing my own show in that city and participate in such a grand cultural tradition of art ... honestly it only feels right that I give a musical offering before I get there, so I recorded a country version of my favorite French song by my favorite French pop star 😍 I’m in awe of @christineandthequeens - exploring vulnerability and strength, and the gender associations that color those concepts for us. I’m almost finished the first 30 episode package on STV player (which equates to roughly the first 4 months of the show November - February)

It’s so so good 😭 it’s a much slower pace than what we are used to now (or what the show itself eventually mutated into) but it’s wonderful to just immerse yourself in the lives of these characters and it all feel so real and relatable. The aren’t really intertwined in each others lives the way they are in other soaps. The estate is newly built so they are as unknown to each other as they are to the viewer really. 4 months down the line and it’s still “the guy next door” “them over the close” no forced or false familiarity. Though familiarity is starting to grow just at a realistic pace.

I have just watched the episode where Petra finds Gavin dead in bed. I don’t think I’ve seen a sudden adult death played out so realistically before. Roger normally a bit of a berk takes charge of the situation and wins Barry round (and off topic why do I fancy Barry Grant? 😅) Heather not knowing what to do or say and failing miserably at being the “compassionate neighbour” was something we probably wouldn’t be shown today but is very true to real life. I kept thinking “why don’t they go get Sheila?” But then she was probably at work. I also kept thinking “just let her see him Roger ffs”

Oh and the fact they film inside the actual houses *chefs kiss*
