No I usually don’t. It pulls my concentration in two different directions. The only times I do is when I’m in a crowded public place and I want to block out that noise with some more familiar, controllable noise.

30. One book everyone should read

Either Dark Life by Kat Falls, or Jason’s Gold by Will Hobbs. Both of them have sequels, but they stand on their own. The former is a dystopian novel set mostly in an under sea colony and I 10/10 recommend this to like. Everyone. JG is about the gold rush, and I can’t really explain why I love it so much. For me, it’s the embodiment of comfort. I’ve read it so many times it’s actually ridiculous, and bizarrely, it feels safe to me.

gif + text tutorial #2

here’s the other tutorial as promised! here we’re gonna be learning some more features of text in ps, and how to make those cool quote/song lyrics edits!!!

so here’s what we’re gonna end up with:

okay so! again let’s sharpen and colour our gif. we’re starting with this:

wow. look at those mountains. cool. so here’s the thing: making quote/lyrics/whatever edits is a bit of a process. the main thing is choosing what font - you have to take into account the mood of the scene and words, the #aesthetic that you want, how different fonts will look together, how legible it will be (please dont use those fancy cursive fonts for everything always), etc etc. so that part falls mainly on you cause it’s your gif.

for the ease of this tutorial, im gonna work in good ol’ times new roman, but you can literally pick any font you want

so, times new roman. let’s do that shit.

wow. art? not quite. lets center that shit.

ok cool, but now its kinda hard to read. remember how stroke was cool for fixing that when captioning??? we’re gonna do something similar here thats a bit more subtle.

right click your text layer in the layers tab and click blending options, just like you were going to do stroke, but instead of clicking that youre going to hit drop shadow:

this one you can usually fuck around in the settings until youre happy with what you have, but these are mine:

and with that our gif now looks like this:

thats better!! ok now our gif can be considered done, but we’re gonna look at some other options. remember this thing?

fuck yeah, lets revisit that. we already covered 1, 2, 3, and 10, but what about the others?

4. this thing tells you how much space is between your lines (horizontally). the higher the value, the farther apart. 

5. no idea. never touched that shit. if u experiment w it let me know i guess?

6. just like 4 but for spacing between the characters themselves!! lets you do that cool spacey shit. 

let’s take a look at what we can do with just 4 and 6.

 now thats profanity! also thats some neatly space letters right there.  moving on.

7. stretches your characters vertically.

8. stretches your characters horizontally.

wouldnt really recommend using these in excess bc it can make your text pixelated and gross looking but hey, do what you want

9. moves your text outside of the text box. fun? like this:

not really that useful but its there.

the Other Shit is your standard text editing tools: bold, italic, case change, small caps, superscript, subscript, underline, and strikethrough.

and so technically were done but im going to tell you something: its literally all in the font(s) you choose. dafont is a good place to get them for free, and also if you follow some ps blogs they often reblog popular fonts. 

i just got a new laptop so i havent redownloaded all my fav custom fonts so i cant rlly do other examples right now but some really good ones are revolution (example here), adobe casalon pro (example here), and brushed traveler (example here). and also if youre wondering the maze runner title font is pirulen
