tbh my DnD character and I are both consumed by this need to be completely irreplaceable WITHOUT having other people become attached to us because we're aware of how easy it is to be displaced or for the people who get attached to become disillusioned or start to devalue us over perceived faults, and at the same time we both live in constant experience-based fear of not having anybody to fall back on because the only value we think we have is what we can do for other people
