Project 2 final statement
For project two, I wanted to convey the depth of one person. To me, the many sides of a person’s personality have always been captivating. For this project I photographed my friend Hannah. I wanted to convey the conflicting aspects of her personality as well as some of her favorite hobbies. I wanted to show the femininity but also the toughness and also the sensitivity of her personality.
Project 3 Proposal 2
The entirety of my blog has shifted over into views of the sky basically. Shots of clouds and trees and nature in general, what you see when looking up. That’s what I always need to be happy so it kept with the theme, this book would be “Keep Looking Up” and show basically shots of the sky that I have shifted over my tumblr to.
Project 3: Proposal 3
The student: Through this I want to capture the life of a student, a worker, and in general, capture the struggle of someone just moving out into their own life, separated from all assistance and having to rely on themselves for any sort of support. With this I would capture in dim lighting, getting natural moments of frustration or irritation, yet amping them up in order to make them seem more dramatized and to get the point of difficulties across even farther. This would be done through staging most of the back ground, piling up homework, bills, or work tasks and making it a sort of overwhelming sensation for both the viewer and for the subject itself.
Project 2: Proposal 2
The Virtuoso: Through this I would like to capture another friend of mine, whom has talents in basically every field imaginable, he is a gamer, an actor, a musician, a singer, a song-writer, an editor and not bad with his studies either. With this project I would want to show him and the balancing act that is his life, shown through him being entirely surrounded by all of the objects he’s found a way in mastering. Each shot would capture a different side of him, his acting side of him would be mixed with his musical side, but mainly take a focus on the acting portion. In another his musical side would take prescience with his acting taking up the back ground. Through another shot I would capture capture his dancing or athletic abilities, and through the last his editing and photography capabilities, all tying together the idea that he is “the whole package”.
Project 2: Proposal 1
Proposal 1: The Actress: Through this series I want to portray a good friend of mine, who is not only an actress but a devout Mormon as well. A large amount of the time this shapes what roles and what parts she goes for and accepts in terms of her acting career. Through these pictures I wish to portray her not only just showing her side of being an actress, but also her religions ties, and in someway, showing, through the fifth picture both of them in the same respect.
Project 3 Final Statement
The photos of this book all feature my bicycle, which has thankfully held up for the past several years of college. They are meant to show the freedom that this device has afforded me, as well as the city that it has helped me explore. The order of photos has been set up to show a round trip that progresses throughout the day, starting and ending at my home, with photos of the farthest distances being taken closer to noon. and the last few in the evening. These locations all have some significance to me whether they are some place I see on my way to classes every day, a favorite restaurant or the site of an annual event where attendance has become tradition.
We all have our own groups we’re apart of, whether these are for classes, hobbies, or work. This is even more emphasized in an organization like the U of A where we have a dense, isolated community of students and faculty members. This has allowed for a huge variety of clubs and extra-curricular organizations to exist with a substantial amount of diversity here on campus. This book would look into these individual groups, their meetings, their activities and provide the viewer with a somewhat better understanding of their place within the university community.
Numerous groups could be photographed in order to highlight this diversity, so for example the Ramblers (a hiking club), Physiology groups, engineering clubs, chemistry, ski/snowboarding. All of these could be followed and looked at (with varying degrees of ease). A few pictures would be taken of the members in activities for each of these groups.
