Hi, wtf is the judging this season?
Paul and Prue seem to only be judging the bakers based on the showstopper, which to me seems extremely unfair to the bakers? Normally, if you do bad on 2 of the challenges (either on the signature, technical, or showstopper) then you are usually the baker who gets sent home. But that doesn’t seem like it’s happening this season. Take this last week’s episode (patisserie week) for example:
Laura did terrible on both the technical and the signature. The only thing wrong with her showstopper was her chocolate glaze (which I’m hesitant to blame the heat for because both David and Peter were able to make their glazes look good). Hermine, on the other hand, only did poorly on the showstopper but did really well on the signature and the technical. And yet it was Hermine who went home purely because her showstopper was bad.
Why? Laura has consistently not done so hot on the first two challenges but always saves herself with the showstopper. Hermine has one bad bake and suddenly she’s off the show. I know this has been happening a lot with this season’s judging - the first two challenges don’t seem to effect the baker’s overall score at the end anymore. It’s all about how good your showstopper looks and tastes. Hermine has been consistently good or in the middle for all of her bakes and one bad bake sends her home?
Again, I feel like this has happened with so many other baker’s who should have gone home but somehow managed to “save” themselves enough to stay, while others who had one bad showstopper are sent home without regards to their previous two bakes.
Wtf is happening this season? I’m seeing a lot of articles on this and so I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s confused but still 😰
(PS: I love Laura’s personality but I don’t think she’s consistently good, or at least compared to other bakers this season)
laura crying in the fridge when everything went tits up in the gbbo final is peak 2020 and babes i’m with you
I am so heartbroken that Hermine is leaving I adore her,, but i am so proud of edi boy Peter he deserved it
I am losing my mind at the recent episode of the British Bake Off like????? Laura got to stay??? When she has been on the edge of the rope idk how many times now??? But the first time Hermine did something terrible she gets voted off the show??????????? Terrible judging on that tbh like I genuinely want to know wat that conversation between Prue and Paul was like
Me at the beginning of this season of gbbo: these bakers seem like they lack personality, I miss last season’s bakers so much
Me now: I will protect Peter Dave & Laura with my life and if you are mean to any of them I will cry and also punch you in the face
*sticks head in freezer to cry*
