reincain lives in my brain forever, thank you for this prompt!!! i tried so hard to work on these pride prompts all month and life said "no <3 get sick" so thank you everyone for waiting patiently!! 🔥 - How do they deal with each other's worries/fears?
It seemed like every day there was always something that happened in Idelva. Another crisis, another thing that needed fixing, another bandit attack; something, something, something. And it was always Reinhardtzar, right in the middle of it.
'Reinhardtzar, can you check this out?'
'Rein, there's another battle downtown.'
'Sir, we just got a report in that-'
"Enough," Reinhardtzar interrupted the soldier that was speaking, his voice hoarse from talking all day. There was migraine beginning to form behind the Draph's eyes, and he wondered why it hadn't arrived earlier. "I'll deal with it tomorrow. Go home."
"Y-Yes, sir." The soldier stammered, clearly uncertain of their position and twice as uncertain talking to Reinhardtzar. Their eyes darted around the room, as if to determine if they were allowed to continue speaking. Reinhardtzar stared them down, but made a motion to continue.
"Ah- if- if I may be so bold, sir, um... have you been on a vacation, recently?"
"A... vacation?" He paused, trying to think. "It... has been awhile. I'll think about it, thank you."
"Of course!" For the first time, the soldier beamed - they quickly gave Reinhardtzar a salute - and quickly walked out, the bundle of papers still in their hands. The Draph, on the other hand, looked out the window of his office in quiet contemplation.

Cain/Reader + Baking
Winter winds whipped around the entirety of the deck of Grandcypher, it’s biting cold chilling you to your bones. Holding a mug of warm coffee in your hands, it’s heat not helping much. Your hands were also wrapped in gloves, and a scarf adorned your neck. Inhaling the scent of coffee, you exhaled; a small cloud of air escaping, as if smoke flowed through your breath.
“…Cain, remind me why we’re out here?” You asked, finally, looking at your companion, who was equally as bundled up as you. Cain looked over at your shivering form, then cracked a small smile.
“What, it’s not refreshing out here, (Name)?” Cain asked, a teasing lilt to his voice. “But I understand. It’s cold.”
“Very!” You shot back, bristling.
“Haha, okay, okay. Let’s go inside. I was just wanting a breath of fresh air anyway.”
“Some breath of fresh air…” You mumble, following the general back inside where it was much, much warmer. The inside of the Grandcypher was much kinder than the outside - warmth emanated from every corner of the airship. Cain removed his scarf and gloves; you did the same, setting your now-empty coffee mug on the table in the dining hall.
“You know what would be a fun way to get rid of this chill?” Cain asked, tilting his head at you.
“Hmm?”
“Brownies! Let’s make some brownies together!” He said, his eyes lighting up.
“…Can you even work an oven?” You asked, folding your arms.
“What! Of course I can… sometimes.” Cain laughed, rushing off into the kitchen. You slowly followed behind him, unsure of what to make of his sudden excitement. You couldn’t help but also get wrapped up in it, watching as he moved about the room - his movements frantic yet his goal was clear: chocolate brownies.
“You should put more faith in me, (Name)!”
“I still don’t trust you not to burn them…” You said, helping add chocolate chips into the already sweet brownie batter. Cain simply just continued to smile, watching as the batter came together. The two of you carefully added the mixture to the greased tray, watching it slide across. Cain glanced up to notice that there was some lingering brownie on your nose - carefully he licked his thumb, then swiped at the rouge dot of chocolate on your face.
“Wh- Cain!” You said, almost jumping a foot back.
“Haha, sorry, sorry. There was some on your face.” Cain shot you another grin, placing the brownies in the oven.
“Warn me next time…”

Cain/Captain + Insomnia
Not his first rodeo with dealing with insomnia - he has his spells of sleeplessness, along with dealing with Leona's on nights when her emotions get the best of her.
Seeing the Captain out and about at night was unusual though. In the empty halls of the Idelva palace, Cain watched from a distance as you hummed softly to a melody unknown to his ears; pacing the length of the corridor.
"Now... what are you doing up?" He murmurs into your ear, wrapping his arms around your torso. "Restless?"
"Cain?" Your voice is impossibly soft, as if you were afraid to speak, "What are you doing awake?"
"I was getting a drink. Then I heard the most wonderful song... (Name), you can talk to me."
You frown slightly, pursing your lips into a thin line: "Sorry. I didn't mean to disturb you-"
"Don't worry about that!" He shushes you with a quick peck to the lips. "Let me take you back to your room and we can figure out what's keepin' you up."
The two of you end up falling asleep in each other's arms after talking for a couple hours - the weight of the world didn't seem so heavy with Cain by your side.
Ayer/Captain + Insomnia
Someone walking down the hallway is what awoke Ayer in the dead of night on the Grandcypher. He scowled and rubbed his tired eyes, exhausted from the previous day's training. Sitting up in bed, Ayer made his way to his door when a quiet knock broke the silence.
Ayer made another face of displeasure but his expression changed to one of shock when he saw the captain standing before him.
"Um-?" Ayer began, confused and a little concerned as to why you were there in the dead of night. You just pushed past him and sat on his bed, rubbing your temples.
"I can't sleep." You pout slightly.
"Oh." Was all Ayer could say, closing the door behind him. "Is there... anything I can do?"
You think for a few moments before replying: "Can you tell me a story?"
Ayer nearly took a double take at the request, his ears going red. "What?"
"I like hearing your voice, Ayer." You said, giving him a a tired smile. "Please?"
"...Alright."
The rest of the night passed peacefully, with the tale of a brave captain and their partner traveling the skies upon Ayer's lips.
Feather/Captain + Insomnia
It wasn't your intention to wake anyone up when you snuck into the Grandcypher's kitchens one night - and you could've swore you were quiet unlocking the door - but you ended up running into Feather.
He wasn't the worst person to run into, but...
"Huh? (Name), what're you doin' here? It's so late!"
"Quiet, Feather!" You hush him. "I should be asking you the same question..."
"What? (Name), don't be like that..." Feather shoots you a smile: "I bet you're here to get the leftovers from Lowain's cooking, right?"
You sigh and sit down at a table. I never understand what's going through your head... Feather takes a seat next to you, patting your back.
"What's going on?" He asks. You explain that you can't sleep and had heard that warm milk or tea might help your ailments. Feather brightens up once more and immediately gets to making the necessary drinks.
Once you've finished your milk, Feather drags you out onto the deck of the Grandcypher.
"Fresh air might help! How're you feelin'?"
"Much better. Thank you, Feather!"

I have a childish personality & love to have fun doing weird things!otherwise I'm very lazy. You also found a shared interest in games, whether that be card or dice. Cain also showed you various tucked away places on Groz Island; hidden caves and secluded waterfalls.
