The World Student Christian Federation
WSCF is a global community of Student Christian Movements (SCMs) committed to dialogue, ecumenism, social justice and peace.
Founded in 1895, WSCF is one of the largest and oldest student organizations in the world. For years, the Federation has challenged and nurtured Christian students, providing one of the most important formative influences of their lives.
WSCF also has a long history of involvement and commitment to the Ecumenical Movement. A community of over 105 Christian student groups, WSCF welcomes people from all Christian traditions and encourages dialogue between students of different confessions. The Federation has members from Protestant, Orthodox, Pentecostal, Roman Catholic, and Anglican traditions and from other backgrounds.
The work of the Federation is carried out on local, national, regional and global levels. The national member movements (SCMs) vary in size, ranging from less than twenty students to hundreds of thousands. Some are highly structured organizations with many staff; others are student-led grass-roots movements. The main regions of the WSCF are: Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and Caribbean, Middle East, and North America. WSCF regions are led by regional committees which organize programs on regional and global levels.
Today, the Federation continues to empower students in critical thinking and constructive transformation of our world by being a unique space for prayer and celebration, theological reflection, study and analysis of social and cultural processes, and solidarity and action across boundaries of culture, gender and ethnicity.
