Good morning to everyone. The first day of spring has come and here in central Missouri it came early. I had to mow my grass this week and will be dealing with that green pollen on my car in the coming weeks ahead. If you are a sufferer of allergies, this can be a very rough time for you and me. How we clean within the built environments will be even more impactful during the next 6 weeks for many. Last week I had the pleasure of being involved in a LEED Gold presentation for only the 3 rd hospital to reach such a distinction. I am told this was only the 6th LEED certified building in Columbia, Missouri where GCI is a chamber member. It made me think about what has happened within GCI over the past 6 months since stepping up and becoming president. Since September of 2011, there have been nearly 800 new individuals certified, 100 new certified Firms and some 150 have renewed their certification, all of which is adding to the GCI network strength. It is individuals who make up a team, a network of people impacting the indoor environments of the buildings we inhabit. Whether they are LEED certified or not, new or existing, it is this army of certified individuals throughout the world who are leading the Green and Healthy challenge. The latest Firm to join the network is UBM in Kansas City, Kansas I would personally like to thank you all and encourage you to check to see if you're one of these Firms or individuals listed on our Green Janitor site www.GreenJanitor.net. You see, I receive requests as to who can provide services in an area all the time and this is where I send those looking for certified individuals and/or organizations. As awareness is growing through our efforts, so is the reach of GCI. We encourage you to continue to be a part of the program and start adding up your points on the 180 Assessment program, www.180Assessment.com as some operations are already surging ahead to be recognized in 2013.
