Of course he always knew. Actions spoke louder than words can, he can see that now. In one glimpse he knew that even if the other was intoxicated he meant those words. He loved him, past tense, a thing of the past like his old self. That's who Jayce loved, not who he had become now and it's understandable. Change can be hard to navigate when itâs so sudden.
Love was momentary and unnecessary; he already buried it but Jayce hadn't.
Why he even came was more to make sure his ex partner didn't do something foolish, he might not care in the same way anymore but it would be a waste to see the other suffer from his own actions.
"I knew but you're intoxicated Jayce, I highly doubt you'll even remember this come tomorrow." Maybe itâs just muscle memory that had him arm wrapping around the other to keep him upright. âYou should leave.â
