Touched by dusk and blessed by the Moon, with a smile to fight a war over and a will of the hardest steel. “What a magnificent queen she would be”, they whisper when she walks by, thinking their words will escape her ears. They don’t- few things do. And can she blame them for whispering, for wondering? For being fascinated by the idea of a King of Fire and a Queen of Ice? Lords may love the idea, but Callidora herself has no desire for a crown, and she may smile and say her thanks and pretend, but do not be mistaken: she has no intention whatsoever to let someone be the ruler of her fate, least of all the opinions of her peers.

In a country of ice and cold ruled by a militarist nobility, she chose to wield different weapons: words and politeness and smiles, and her battlefield of choice is the court and its dangerous web of relations.
