Always acting
I don't think I ever really talked about Dia's social skills / issues on this blog so for anyone who cares, have this.
Dia is very socially smart, she reads people extremely well and fast. Often not even needing to talk to the person herself, just listening in on how they are with others is enough. The energy they give off also can be a hint to her. All of that she uses to adjust how she acts around them.
Now, how much or little she does this depend on who she is with and how well she knows/ likes and trusts them. New people usually get a very rehearsed in side of her. Charming and a smooth talker, she does adjust based on the mood and topic of conversation but that is how she is. With people, she already knows she is a bit more open, but it heavily depends on the person.
But no matter what, Dia in a way is always acting.
Which would be fine, if not a bit concerning if she did that just with strangers or when meeting important people. But she does it all the time. Often without even thinking about it. It's just so ingrained into her that some parts of her are so flawed and "wrong" that she should never show them to anyone.
The real problems (at least in her eyes) only start when she really likes somebody. Because she wants to be herself around them. But she also wants them to like her, and fears they won't if they see too many of what she sees as flaws. This leads to a bunch of issues that she had no idea to fix, which leads to stress that builds up. That can then often lead to her pulling away from these people, knowing she could crash out soon.
For as confident as Dia can be, she hates parts of herself just as much if not more.
“Throw me cowards! See what happens”
@vmpyrloved: "At your earliest convenience I must speak with you. Alone. Do not bring the cane please. This is a matter of great importance."
“Not bring the cane?” Nim said raising an eyebrow “Well that won’t be a problem” shrugging the witched put away the book she had been reading. She wasn’t sure why the vampire would think she out of all people would be in possetion of the cane but she wouldn’t question it for now.
“I can close up the shop and we can talk if it is that important” the Witch offered being intriuged about what was so imporatnat that he would come to her.
