At the confluence of original fiction and plot bunny lane...
....aka, all the werewolf!Jesse posts have finally finished worming their way into my subconscious mind.
Hanzo Shimada: A hexenjaeger, sent west at the plea of the Republic’s ambassador to the Nation of the Four Deserts and the request of its governing council. A lone wolf among the pack hunters of the Hexenjagd, he carries a weight of sorrow for the death of his brother and one of the rarest gifts of his kind.
Gabriel Reyes: A retired soldier of the Republic who traveled west to start his life anew and found himself being drafted to the task of providing safety and law enforcement to a rapidly growing city and its inhabitants. He is enormously good at his job, possesses a number of unusual skills, and a pure and perfect willingness to use all of his craft and guile to protect those he considers his people.
Jesse McCree: One of Sheriff Reyes’ deputies and also his adopted son, whom he salvaged from a life of disreputable outlawry and likely an early grave. Possessed of a lightning-fast hand with his guns, flawless aim, and a dark secret.
Dr. Lucio Correia dos Santos: A young physician, newly arrived from the Old Country. Idealistic almost to a fault and utterly fearless, he parlayed the wealth acquired as a sensational musical performer into a clinic for the poor and indigent that he operates on the outskirts of town.
Ana Amari: The local alchemist who came to the west some years ago to further her art by studying with the Firstcomer tribes of the desert. She and her young daughter, Fareeha, live above her shop in the city, from whence she compounds any number of medicines, philters, and potions for those who can meet her prices -- which are not only charged in legal tender alone.
Jamison Fawkes and Mako Rutlege: The most disreputable of the city’s many airship mechanics, known for their wildly experimental designs, reckless disregard for public property, and propensity for causing explosions, voluntarily and otherwise. There are absolutely not the pair of dementedly daring outlaws who robbed that Republic diplomatic courier ship and no one can prove otherwise.
The residents of the Overwatch Ranch: Victims of murder most foul. The sheriff suspects an outlaw gang seeking vengeance against the ranch’s now-late owner; the Firstcomer elders of the city believe something far, far worse and request the aid of a hexenjaeger to help discern the truth of the matter to the satisfaction of all.
The Deadlock Rebels: A ravening band of outlaws; Jesse’s former confederates. Most of them were hung some years ago which makes signs of their activities so disturbing to find now.
