Hey, gang! It's my birthday -- 52 years of life on this crazy, messed up, beautiful world of ours.

I don't usually ask for more than hap birf wishes but this year is a little different. As some of you know, I lost my job in December, and while I was eligible for unemployment that has run out. As of today. My birthday. Yes, that feels just as bad as you might imagine. Fortunately, I have secured employment -- but that job doesn't start until the tail end of August due to its nature. The mate fortunately still has his job, but we're going to need to stretch for a month and a half until mine kicks in. Consequently, I'm going to make a request.

If you could pass around the link to my self-published horror/comedy novelette I'd appreciate it. So i’ve been lying in bed feeling like shit the past 24 hrs and having major FeelsTM about these games and L I S T EN you can’t tell me Hanzo & Fenris wouldn’t instantly bond broodily over their glowing tattoos and that Hawke & McCree wouldn’t spend every waking moment squeeing over them and become BFFS5EVER after a few rounds and tall tales BECAUSE THEY McFREAKING WOULD. Not sure got to feel when the hobby book says this should only take an hour but it took me 5 hours.

1. Hobby books are often written by the same people who think you can caramelize onions in 5 minutes

2. Hobby books are even more often written by people who don't have or are actively neglecting their partners/full-time jobs/pets/children/household maintenance.

3. Hobby books are often written by people with ADHD, and an hour in ADHD hyperspace is like 2-7 hours for everyone else, including other ADHD people who are not currently in the zone.

4. Hobby books are written by people who, when told by an editor to add in how long it will take, just make shit up

5. If you're doing something for the first time, you're going to take way, way longer to do it than someone who's had years of practice. Maybe it does only take an hour IF YOU'VE BEEN DOING IT FOR TEN YEARS. Think about how long it took you to make idk your first excel spreadsheet vs how long it takes now

To actually answer your question: proud. You should feel proud, because you made something, AND you did so while learning a brand-new skill! Go you!!

May I ask what the Allegedly-One-Hour project was? Both because I like hearing about what my friends are doing and I want to see how wildly inaccurate the listed time scope is.
