The Kirby fandom sometimes feels like a bit of an echo chamber because I've seen people get oddly pressed when you give an interpretation. Which is odd because this series is allergic to confirmation and instead encourages you to draw your own conclusions based on the information you've been given. Speaking from experience, the way this fandom treats people who's interpretation doesn't line up with the majority of the fanbase's is insane.
Was it ever explicitly stated that DMK corrupted Sectonia? No, but it was never NOT stated. Was it ever stated that Void and Kirby are the same thing? Heavily implied, but no, it wasn't. But it was never deconfirmed either. It's a bit frustrating how much people will use some random outside source from an interview only available in Japanese to act above you and that they're right and you're wrong when I can assure you the intent of that outside source was never to shoot down potential theories but instead encourage more questions.
It's a series about a pink ball and his friends and the main message is to treat others with kindness and that love conquers all or whatever... be nice to people with different ideas. For a series that heavily encourages interpretations and headcanons, people sure are allergic to that idea!
Metal Sonic is so interesting to me in terms of both character and design because I genuinely wholeheartedly consider him to be a perfect design, and so does SEGA lol.
It's crazy to me how a character who's been around for this long has faced little to no design changes. You can't even consider it a full-on redesign considering how the only changes made between classic and modern is more realistic robotic parts, oval eyes and being given a hip
And I gotta say, it works. He for sure looks like a roboticized version of Sonic but he hits a good balance between looking like an existing character and looking unique. Other robot Sonics don't really hit this middle ground as good.
etc...
They're all certainly based on Sonic, and they're good in their own ways, but none of their designs scream "This is Sonic if he were a robot".
But Metal Sonic's design is genuinely perfect. I could not think of something you could add to make it better than it already is. In fact, adding more to it would just mess it up to me. Metal Sonic's design perfectly parallels Sonic's by making him have more complex body parts in contrast to Sonic's simple design, giving him sharper points to make him look more dangerous, and of course, giving him segmented joints in contrast to Sonic's cartoony rubberhose-like arms. Of course, his red eyes make him look threatening and evil so you know what's up. Everything about him screams malice. Metal Sonic's overall busier design looks so constrained, and considering how Sonic is meant to be freedom, this makes sense and it fits so well.
Perfection. Zero notes. Kazuyuki Hoshino cooked. This guy right here is peak character design and I could go on forever talking about how well he parallels Sonic and why he is the definitive arch-rival to me. I just had to get this out of my system and praise how well-made Metal's design is.
All living things kneel before the superior Sonic; the REAL Sonic!
Deltarune spoilers waowaowwaowowaow my thoughts about something I didn't like
One-sided Krusie has probably been my biggest disappointment in Deltarune so far. I was super attached to Kris and Susie's relationship because how often do you ever see two friends just be allowed to be... friends? In anything?? It spoke volumes to my little aroace heart, seeing a close friendship that didn't feel the need to confirm to anything, and that felt free to do actions that were normally seen as "couple things". And seeing that be reflected in Kris and Susie's relationship was so special to me, 'cause I never see that. Things aren't ever allowed to be just platonic in this romance-crazed world. Seeing Kris get treated as the aroace third wheel in any relationship felt so fucking real.
...which is why all the alluding to Kris having a crush on Susie was the biggest disappointment I've had in Deltarune, because it really CAN'T just be a platonic thing. We really need more rep of people who are just friends and nothing more and challenge the idea of the line separating romantic and platonic. 🥹
But oh well. What will you do. Happy for all the Krusie shippers who won the lottery, LOL. Or sorry for the one sided yaori.
Other than that CH5 was fucking awesome and Flowery is probably my favorite final boss so far
Mnot entirely convinced Dark Choco would rlly return to their whole royal things if they ever got redeemed I'm gonna be honest. At least it'd take ages
Tbh they've prolly felt trapped their whole life. Like as a prince all he did was train n try to prove himself and get power and then as a cookies of darkness member he was going thru the shitter 24/7 with now an even more intensified craving for power. N now they're prolly still suffering a lil bit cus living like a bum in the woods isn't an easy job but it's the most free they've ever been in their whole life. Like somehow I think the silver lining in their current situation is just the fact that for once in their life they actually have a choice on what they want to do and who they want to be and that's a lil depressing all things considered cus they spent like 3 decades prolly always being what he was told to be instead of being able to figure that out for himself. So I think they're also gonna have to process that. That's just what I think
Lifetime's worth of never having control over your life (even before the Evil Sword That Controls You™) doesn't just disappear that fast. Even if he forgave Dark Cacao. Yk.
