Geddes Axe – Return of The Gods EP - 1981
As NWOBHM as it comes, practically encased in denim and smelling of patchouli. From Sheffield, think Saxon! Great stuff.

Comprehensive Spending Review 2013; will history repeat itself with another “Geddes Axe”?
There are just a few weeks to go to the Comprehensive Spending Review. In England, Whitehall departments have managed to identify only £2.5billion in savings, despite the minimum target, set by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, at £11.5 billion. Clearly there are some tough decisions ahead and English Local Government face challenging times.
Those of you who know your history, will know that in 1920 faced with an inability of Ministers and their departments to make significant savings, the then Labour Prime Minister David Lloyd George brought in Lord Geddes (a businessman) to identify the savings crucial to the Nation’s economic recovery. It became known as the "Geddes Axe".
Our point of view, adding our hope to others', is that such a crude intervention, does not need to be the choice made later this year.
That said, few would argue that we need to reduce our public sector expenditure and invest in those areas that will improve our economy and much needed growth – areas such as: housing, infrastructure and, “income generating” private sector employment and export opportunities.
