To any trans and non binary people starting to figure it out:
It’s okay to not know exactly what your gender is
It’s okay if you don’t know exactly what pronouns to use yet
It’s okay to not know your name yet
It’s okay to use whatever name makes you feel good (and, no, it’s not insulting to anyone in your family, even if they may sometimes say so)
It’s okay to not want to tell people your pronouns bc you’re scared of how they’ll react
It’s okay to tell people your pronouns and expect them to use them (bc they should)
It’s okay if you slip up with your name or pronouns every once in a while (you’ve used your birth name and pronouns your entire life until this, by now it’s almost muscle memory to say it automatically, so don’t beat yourself up)
It’s okay if you haven’t transitioned physically, it doesn’t make you any less valid
It’s okay if you want to
It’s okay if you don’t
It’s okay if you simply can’t
It’s okay if you’re only starting your transition
It’s okay to only be partially out of the closet
It’s okay to hide your gender identity when you feel unsafe (please, put your safety first)
It’s okay if your language doesn’t have gender neutral pronouns
It’s okay to be yourself
Whoever you are, wherever you are in this process, however you do this whole thing, you are valid, you are heard, you are not alone and you will get through the hard times.
