may i ask what app / program / thing you use to get the time and date on your desktop like that?
hello! @ ifallontragedy too because asked me about the same thing, so:
HOW TO: THAT PRETTY CLOCK THING ON MY DESKTOP
For Mac: I used a lovely little software called GeekTool, available for free. It doesn’t do everything for you, though, you need to use scripts, called Geeklets, some of which are available here and via DeviantArt searching for geeklets and geektool. You need to tweak them around a bit but once you’re done it looks very neat, doesn’t it? I think I was inspired by this; I honestly wish I had the patience and time to recreate this. This is also pretty cool. Really do browse DeviantArt for this, you’ll find great things! If you’re more talented or patient than me you could have some really incredible results :)
For Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8: I can’t go into detail here because I don’t know how it works but I know a similar software exists called Rainmeter and I’m told it’s easier to work with, so lucky you if you can use it! Here’s the link to freely download Rainmeter and the DeviantArt search for rainmeter.
For both of these you can easily google dozens of tutorials and scripts so have fun!
N.B.: none of these involve hacking the operating system in any way, though many of the things you’ll find on DA do involve hacking the OS, which can be horrible, no good, very bad for your computer.
A Trello GeekTool Geeklet
I recently made a GeekTool Geeklet for viewing my Trello boards. It’s really rudimentary, but it’s pretty useful for me.I’ve used Trello on and off for nearly three years now, but only recently did I start using it to manage all of my homework assignments at NYU. I use a single board with lists for each class and one for ‘In Progress’. It’s really convent to see what’s going on, but it requires me…

I want to install Rainmeter, but I have a mac that I'm currently using. Is there a decent alternative? GeekTool doesn't look quite like I want it.
Displaying Trello cards directly on your OSX desktop
One of crucial parts of my GTD system is Trello where I hold all of my todo lists.
For quite long time I was frustrated with how cumbersome is it to keep it always open. Don't get me wrong - I don't have anything against web based applications and think Trello is great, but I almost always accidently foget and close it. I've experimented with pinned tabs and other solutions, but none of them did what I wanted.
I've decided to take things in my own hands and write GeekTool widget that will simply print list of Trello cards on my desktop.
Widget can be downloaded at http://www.macosxtips.co.uk/geeklets/productivity/trello-based-todo-list/
Installation is not the easiest one, but I've included pretty detailed instructions. Let me know if they are not good enough :)
New desktop:) Frankie is unsure of my quest!
