The Atrium heart of Guggenheim Bilbao The glass curtain opening up the central inside part of the museum opens to a terrace outside with a water moat dividing it from the rest of the exterior riverside bank. From the Atrium all the galleries and other building features is connected. On the terrace itself the colourful sculpture Tulips by Jeff Koons are on permanent display to the right. Beautifully lit even in the night. The main materials used in the museum is displayed her. A frame of stainless steel, foundations of limestone, glass and a skin of thin titanium covering it all. Guggenheim Museum of art took four years to build, from 1993 to 1997. It was built on the location of a former ship wharf, and remains like railroad tracks are still incorporated in the museum grounds. It is an example on how modern architecture and brave city development can stop a city declining after former greatness of an other age and time. It is also a reminder that such a development needs more than one extraordinairy building to succeed. https://www.guggenheim-bilbao.eus/en/the-building/inside-the-museum #art #architecture #museum #frankgehry #gehryarchitecture #nightphotography #metal #riverbed #glass #steel #contemporary #2009CE (at Museo Guggenheim Bilbao) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cf66yHLPG1T/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
