Depois de cinco anos de aprendizagem uma maiko torna-se geiko, que é como se chamam as geixas em Kyoto. O penteado tem menos adornos, o kimono é mais discreto, com menos padrões e mangas mais curtas, usado com um colarinho imaculadamente branco.
