What’s with all the worry???
I had a crap sleep last night. All my whinging about the baby kicking the crap out of me as I watched MKR, and continuing on once I tried to fall asleep - has resurfaced to bite me in the arse!
I watched MKR totally uninterrupted by alien tummy movements (side-note, I did watch the teaser for the new ALIEN movie though - freakin AWESOME!!!). Then went to bed and felt none of the usual Kung-Fu Panda moves...so guess who had nightmares and spent most of the night tossing and turning and wondering how much radiation really does go through to the baby when you have an x-ray?
This got me to thinking, women have been having babies for as long as we have populated the Earth...so you’d think our bodies are not only geared toward that exact job, but must be quite good at it to have kept the gig for so long. Although, men would totally suck at being pregnant - the increase in gas alone would force us to quarantine them out of our clean air for 9 months! But anyway, back to us women..I really “shouldn’t” have to worry should I - my body was built for this purpose. But what if my body is defective? Because I swear most days it has no fricken idea wtf it’s doing! Let me give you an example;
I’ve written before about my ongoing teeth issues, which by the way I will be having resolved this Monday (I’ll be sure to thank my child for the redneck oral upgrade!) so you could imagine that not only is eating anything difficult and quite painful, but with the root being exposed I’m also extremely sensitive to even the air touching it when I speak. Does my body go into protection mode? NOOO - “hey Ali...Ali....Ali....I could really go for some Espresso and Chocolate Gellatissimo right about now. C’mooooon we REALLY need it, the baby NEEDS it. It tastes so good, it might even stop you feeling sick!!” Pfft, my body is a weak little sidekick to it’s evil lord ‘the mind’. If anyone needs me I will be down the Strand avoiding the lycra bodies waiting for Gellatissimo to open for breakfast. If I have it on a waffle that makes it a breakfast food right?
