if dudes want a male gem make rose quartz identify as male see how they react to that shit
Someone who wished to remain anonymous submitted these to me.
Behold, physical proof that “Gemtlemen, etc.” are nothing more than a joke that tumblr took far too seriously and flipped out about.
You are a gentle(wo)man and a scholar, and I salute you.
And here’s a link to the video itself, click on snowwhistle1′s comment for the whole story.
So yeah, to anyone who still thinks that “Gemtlemen/brogems/gembros/what-the-fuck-ever” was actually going to be a thing, YOU’RE AN IDIOT.
I KNOW I reblogged a post with actual screencaps from that youtube discussion that “Gemtlemen” came from, directly debunking tumblr’s stupid claims it was anyting other than a Joke, but I went through 100 pages of my own blog and I couldn’t find it.
I KNOW I saw it. But for some reason it’s not in my Baby war or bronies/anti bronies tags.
I didn’t add it to my queue or anything did I?
You guys know which post I’m talking about right? I know at least ONE of you has it.
OMG Takashi! I am laughing so hard right now. I just saw a post about brogems/gemtlemen and I shit you not they were censoring those words. They were all 'the br*gems and g*mtlemen have invaded the SU tag with porn!' Omg what fucking children
Oh man, where’s that gif of Grunkle Stan going “show me the object of ridicule!” when I need it?
Point me in the idiot’s direction and I’ll straighten them out.
Dear "gemtlemen", I'm sorry but I'm a male fan of steven universe and I think honestly calling yourself "gemtlemen" or "brogems" and you trying to protect your tiny fragile masculinity from breaking is so ridiculous. This show is all about breaking down the concept of masculinity and femininity. It's stupid that you even feel the need to be called that. I love this show, and maybe you do too, but just call yourself a fan, and be done with it. Stop trying to sound special, or "save" your masculinity. It's gross Just enjoy the show, because it's really good. AND DONT MAKE PORN OF IT! THIS SHOW IS ON CARTOON NETWORK, AIMED AT KIDS FROM 5 TO 18! NO ONE WANTS TO SEE IT. NO ONE WANTS THEIR KID TO HAPPILY BE LOOKING UP THEIR FAVOURITE SHOW AND TO SEE SOMETHING ADULT! LEAVE STEVEN UNIVERSE OR ANY CHILDREN'S SHOW OUT OF THIS KEEP IT TO YOURSELF, AND THINK OF OTHER PEOPLE FOR A CHANGE. Thank you for reading, Finn

Why I don't like the thought of most bronies crossing into the SU fandom
Two big incidents.
1. The most popular blog in the fandom was about distorting a key character into a rapist, and having her rape her ponies. When this fell under criticism, the large amount of fans it had and its creators denied the blog depicted rape. And the person to make the EqD spinoff had a part in this blog. 2. When a MLP comic book writer Ted Anderson put in a small cameo of a feminist blogger in a official comic. Said blogger made an "I hate all boys" satirical art piece using a character from the show (satirizing the ways in which the fandom distorts characters horribly). Most of the fandom proceed to attack Anderson ruthlessly for showing any kind of support to this blogger. He later makes this post: "Someone on Twitter asked me if I would still support if the words "bro" or "brony" were replaced by another racial or social group. That’s a disingenuous question, because context is extremely important in works like these—context is what makes it art, as opposed to hate speech. If the message in one of those pieces was "I hate all women," then it would essentially be in line with a culture that already devalues women and regards them as second-class citizens; it would be repeating an attitude that’s already prevalent. The recent scandal over a semi-famous YouTuber whose work appears to consist primarily of harassing women in various ways shows that women are still, in many contexts and across cultures, regarded as objects on which men’s desires and actions can be projected. For a man to say "I hate all women" isn’t merely confirming a misogynistic attitude; it’s redundant, since society already hates women for him. Inverting the message does not, therefore, imply an equivalent kind of hatred. If men were being systematically abused in every society on Earth, if men consistently earned less than women in similar positions, if women were regarded as the default "human" and men as the "other," then yes, this would be a hateful (but, again, redundant) statement. Conversely, in this society, it’s an act of revolution, of affirming the importance of female experience and action in a world that repeatedly demeans it. Implying that merely stating an expression of anger is equivalent to being in a position where that anger can be (and routinely is) acted upon and justified is not only specious, it’s insulting and remarkably un-self-aware." The attacks continued unabated, and the post was held up as further evidence that Anderson hated men/bronies. The post was held up as if it was self-evidently horrible. Not a word of this seemed to sink in. And then EqD made a horribly one sided report on all this to stir the drama.
This wasn't bad apples on the fringes. This was a large body of the fandom in both instances, covered by its most centralizing website. I haven’t forgotten this awfulness.
Stuff like this is why the brony fandom has such a bad name, and why people are opposed to it coming to SU, an extremely progressive and feminist show with a fanbase that largely marches to those ideas.
Because, and this is something I say with confidence, most bronies aren't interested in feminism. They do not understand social progressive ideals that don’t deal directly with men.
They have watched one of the most feminist and progressive shows on television for five years and they’ll still deny feminism at every turn. They’ve watched this show for five years and done little to nothing to help or acknowledge the plight of women. I don’t like the thought of most bronies in the SU fandom because I don’t think they’ll completely get Steven Universe.
Is the gembros/gemtleman thing even happening??
