Buck, 66, found guilty of all nine felony counts in federal court, which could lead to a life sentence
In 2017, 26-year-old African-American Gemmel Moore died of an overdose of crystal meth in the West Hollywood home of Ed Buck. The coroner originally classified the death as accidental, but when a number of African-American gay men came forward to state that Buck had paid them to come to his apartment and let him inject them with crystal meth and engage in sexual acts, Los Angeles County opened a homicide investigation. Ultimately, however, the District Attorney declined to charge Buck.
In January of 2019, 55-year-old African-American Timothy Dean died of a meth overdose in Buck's apartment. Buck claimed Dean had "ingested some type of substance" before coming over, and that he had actually tried to save Dean's life. Again, the overdose was ruled accidental and Buck was not charged.
In September of 2019, Buck injected a 37-year-old man (name not provided) with methamphetamine. The man overdosed, but he didn't die; he survived to report what Buck had done. Buck was finally arrested, and last week he was convicted on all counts.
