This was totally confusing, normally, she knew what was going on no matter what. But to see a similar gem of her size, shape, and cut... who looks exactly like her.
Wow.
“Hi, Ruby.” No excuse not to be polite, however.

Jasper was, above all else, a soldier. She understood the true meanings of words like honor, duty, and sacrifice. For centuries she served Homeworld with little question and no regret, fighting on to help establish Homeworld’s place in the vast, spread galactic community. She’d served on countless tours of duty on Diamondforsaken worlds. Fought in more battles than she could remember. Put her life on the line countless times, without hesitation, without rearing her head back. Whatever the mission, the assignment, she had followed orders to the best of her ability with little complaint, simply because she was the best. But if she had to spend one more rest period in the diplomat’s lounge listening to the foreign creature drone on about its counterpart, she was going to snap. Her foot resting on her knee, lounged back into the alien furniture with a passive, pinprick stare and arms strung over the back of the furniture, Jasper was unwavering in her attention, but unwavering attention was never the best gain when she gave it. She stared the Ambassador down as it droned on, painfully slow, and Jasper desperately wished for their own Ambassador to return. She was on guard duty, not public face duty. She nudged the Ruby beside her with her foot, and looked at her imploringly, flicking her eyes from the Ruby to the drawling Ambassador, beseeching her to figure out how to depart them from the conversation they seemed to be trapped in.

"ruby!”
the other ruby barked, the irritation in her voice was only the usual amount. and, for someone who wasn't technically in charge, she liked to talk big. like she was.
like she had been before. once upon a time.
at least, when she spoke again, her voice had softened from a shout. down to her usual, gruff tone. “status report?”
@gemofkindness
It wasn’t a large threat. In fact the threat was smaller than usual. A lone Ruby. Alex wasn’t necessary but she stayed together anyways. “Are you alone?” Even the whole squadron wasn’t much of a threat but Alex would prefer knowing.
