I'm a dungeon master and I keep making npcs that are progressively more attractive to one of my players in hopes that he'll give up trying to romance an npc who needs to die to further the plot because I'm trying not to make this the plot of Honor Among Theives, okay?

Say Gentaro Kisaragi is mindcontrolled and he hurt a lot of people while under mindcontrol... how does he react upon snapping out of mindcontrol?

Lmao I have surprisingly thought about this a lot.

Gentaro is someone super loving and forgiving, even if they, I don’t know — say, muRdeReD him.

(Lmao)

The moment he got alived again, he literally went to find his murderer and said, “wow <333 I know you so much better now.” Which is a whole thing

But I think it’s interesting how very little he thinks about himself. Others are always placed as more important. They hurt him? Insult him? That’s okay because he is going to befriend The SH*T out of them no matter what >:)).

Every single one of the actions Gentaro takes are impulsive to a degree, but always a selfless one. He loves people. He wants to help people. He wants to make them happy. So what would happen if he were the one to cause the pain?

Oh, the agnst would be beautiful my friends.

The amount of care he’s placed on other people (before himself), means that if he were the one to have hurt them, essentially I think it would put him in a state of shock.

He would be horrified.

That trust he has so keenly in himself and his actions would be the first to disappear. He would have the thought “what if I hurt them” constantly twisting inside of him. Building and building.

I absolutely love how wholesome Fourze is as a show, but as a writer —- if Fourze were to ever be remade, I think putting that focus on Gentaro and his altruism and the conflict or pain his actions could cause — mind controlled or not, would be a very interesting theme to explore.

We see similar things being explored right now through Ikki and Momoi. Gentaro would fall somewhere within the middle. (And I think a character exploration as to why he thinks or acts like this would also be something I would hope a re-write would address and it’s fascinating actually. The fact that Gentaro chooses to wear and style himself like a Punk, a Rebel (TM) and yet why?

People can wear whatever aesthetics they want. But there’s always a reason, subconscious or not. A punk aesthetic is one of the aesthetics I would say is chosen as like a shield.

“I am agaisnt this world so this world can’t hurt me.”

But, Gentaro isn’t someone I’d describe as “against the world”, he’s more than for it. So why does he dress and style himself that way, is he modeling himself after a mentor he looked up to? Is it a shield he wears so that even when he’s attacked or hurt he can think ‘I’m fine. I’m okay. This world cannot affect me (negatively).’

His psychology would be something fun to explore. Now, if you say: “Naw, he’s just naturally forgiving and—“

Listen.

All actions a human takes. Every reaction. Is based on something.

No one (take this with a grain of salt, but most of the average population is what I’m taking about.) is “naturally forgiving” and selfless. That’s a learned trait. What’s the first trait you see in toddlers? The idea of possession.

“This is MINE.”

That ALWAYS comes before the action of sharing. (There might be outliers yes, but 99% of the everyday population is like this, so the outliers AREN’T the point.)

So Gentaro’s selflessness has to have come from somewhere.

Anyways, back to the hypothetical question (lol), but I 100% believe him hurting others (not at all of his own volition) is something that would break him.

He’d lose his trust in himself. He’d start to doubt his actions, he’d start to overthink.

“What if this ends up hurting someone? What if I hurt someone again?”

It would terrify him. With his emotional turmoil conflicting how he normally appears with friends, I don’t doubt that he would mask it. He would smile like everything is fine, when he can’t even sleep at night because every time he does he’ll have nightmares from that Day. That time where he hurt people.

Originally when he first snaps out —he can’t think, only react. He sees people hurt, he would go up and try to help them, in shock and not at all thinking yet ‘I caused this’.

But then they shrink back from him in fear, and that makes him pause. Hesitate.

And then the thoughts come, they start processing, and he can’t be here, he can’t be around these people that he’s hurt. So he leaves, he backs away, he isolates himself, and then Everything Hits.

About the contact lenses!! A lot of cosplayers (including myself) use TTDEYE!! Good quality but a bit expensive, as are any contacts. They feel even weirder than normal contacts because of the colored layer, but not by much. Also, if you have something like a snake/cat eye or similar you will have to shift it around every now and then because when you blink they turn.

Also some tips, make sure to wash the contact cases regularly, around once a month should be fine depending on how much you use them, because small hairs and particles eventually build up in the liquid (Saline solution, if you get ttdeye it doesn’t come with so you may have to buy your own, but they come with a case.) Make sure to fill it up again regularly as well, or else the contact will dry out. You can let it soak in the liquid for a few days to fix it but it’s honestly terrifying to open the case and find one like that.

Last thing I swear, if the contact hurts, at all, take it out. You can let your eye rest and try again after a few minutes, but if it hurts it hurts for a reason. Look up “right way to put in a contact” images and it’ll show you what the shape of the contact is supposed to look like, because there is a wrong side and it will damage your eye. Your eye watering and maybe getting a little red (from the crying) is normal, but pain is not! And don’t try to stick the pain out either because I have made that mistake before and it was horrible.

I used to participate in an expensive hobby that helped me meet lots of people at the time. I stopped in 2019 and don't stay in touch with anyone I used to know back then. I have some awesome memories related to the hobby but also some terrible ones and the main reason I stopped was because of stalking. The people who have sexually assaulted me were ones who I met through the hobby. And unfortunately, reporting the incidents didn't grant me any protection.

I have been thinking about it again and wondering if I should sell the things I have related to the hobby since like I said it was an expensive one. But sometimes I wonder if I'll get back into again and then feel sad about having sold my stuff. I've taken breaks from the hobby before back when I was still a student and was too busy with school sometimes but always got back into doing it. I also regret having participated in the hobby sometimes because of all the time and money I wasted, plus the stalkers and abusers I met. There are some things I can never get back. I had to stop using my old phone number, social media accounts, etc. and I don't have any friends irl anymore. Even if I sell my items that doesn't make up for money I wasted on other things related to the hobby like travel expenses and hotels. And I can't un-traumatize myself or un-meet the crappy people I met.

I also feel like maybe I'm getting too old for the hobby because it seems like it's mostly popular with younger people (I myself started at around 12) and I'm in my 30s now. It's not a matter of "Do what you love at whatever age you want and don't care about being judged" but more just the fact that a crowd where the majority of people are kids half my age and younger means it's extremely hard to find people my age to meet and become friends with. So I've been considering moving on but I have a lot of mixed feelings since like I said I've never quit before, just taken breaks, but since it's been 5 years maybe this time it can be permanent. What things should I consider and what advice do you have?

I won't tell you what to do but I can help describe your options and hopefully that can clarify the decision you want to make.

If you choose to stop participating in this hobby, you may get a decent amount of money in selling your hobby-related belongings. You might feel a sense of closure in no longer being exposed to triggers as often and might feel as though you've closed a difficult chapter. You won't have to deal with the awkwardness of the age differences in those who partake in this hobby. You might also be saving a decent amount of money that would've otherwise been spent on travel and lodging. However, you may feel a sense of longing for the positive aspects of this hobby, although this could be an urge you could substitute for a new hobby. You're right that you can't change the past, but you can write your future.

If you continue with this hobby, you might continue to have a complicated relationship with it, both in terms of the age differences of you versus the majority of those who engage in this hobby, and in terms of frequently encountering triggers. You may become compelled to spend more money traveling and staying in hotels, or perhaps even buy whatever newest equipment comes along with this hobby, which isn't financially wise. You may also have fear when interacting with others.
