To all my atheist/etc. mutuals and followers (of which there are quite a few)
This weekend I’m going to be doing a lot of religious posting. Block these tags if you don’t want to see any of it:
#jclds runnerpost
#genconf runnerpost
Also, occasionally, I use the below tag as a catch-all for posts related to religion (but it’s usually just Christianity). I may use it a few times this weekend but I’ll always use the first two, where I’ll only sometimes use the below one. Anyway:
#religious runnerpost
Ok! Slept through the morning session, procrastinated joining family for the afternoon session, and finally tuning in to the evening session.
Nice that we’re starting with “How Firm a Foundation,” I like that hymn a lot.
Might try posting about some of the talks in a single thread under here, this time around. Just for brief notes. More thoughts will be in longer separate messages.
I won’t re-add these tags until the end of the thread, so when someone tag trawls it won’t be clogged with a bajillion basically-duplicate posts.
Semi-related but putting it in a new post. I’m pleasantly surprised by how well my mutuals take my JCLDS genconf posting, or how well they ignore it, because I’ve never gotten hate about it.
Though that might also be the non confrontational nature of Tumblr nowadays, and most mutuals being logged off (good for them…touch grass for me…I will endeavor to join you all in scrolling less…someday…)
Ran 16 miles (in total. Had two breaks totaling probably 45 minutes, and a few more couple-minute breaks) and woke up early too. Took a long shower and a short drive, so I missed the first hour of the morning session of General Conference.
But, on the other hand, I had a serious talk with my dad about my grades and career plans yesterday and partly this morning. Considering that my issues mainly stem from spending 7-10 hours online/gaming/whatever daily, I feel obligated to start trying harder to be self-disciplined.
So, whether or not I will pay attention or be awake through all of Conference this weekend is a toss-up. Normally I lose steam midway through Saturday. Hoping to hold out longer this time.
Feelin kinda 🫤 for the last couple talks, so the current him being “Lord, I Would Follow Thee” (about wanting to want to be good, about wanting to be the kind of person who helps)…well, it’s good this one came on just as I realized how meh I was feeling.
Still feeling meh, but a little less than before.
Current talk about obedience to the commandments, but I’m just thinking about how this applies to discipline in general. You’re free to choose how you spend your time, but putting certain limits on yourself is good.
