a genderisaac flag redesign for @geckorph!

i picked colors from a few of the logo variants, screenshots from the game, and isaac’s sprite itself. i didn’t make this flag with specific color meanings in mind, since i’m not super knowledgeable about the binding of isaac, i just went off of vibes.

flag id: a flag with 7 stripes. in order, they are near-black, grey, light grey-blue, faded light red, red, dark red, and dark brown. end id.

Soulheartic: A gender that sits in front of another gender/other genders in the identity, blocking access to them, that will go away permanently when “damaged.”

“Damage” in this case is up to interpretation and can essentially be any event, really. Major life changes, specific events, etc. It could even be “movement” (in a metaphorical sense) against xenogenders in the identity that are described as violent or damaging.

One can have multiple soulheartic genders. Soulheartic genders may lessen one’s ability to feel/comprehend the genders that are “behind it,” as if all the user’s genders are in a conveyor line and the soulheartic ones have to be used first. 

A soulheartic genderhoarder may want to still list their soulheartic genders that have gone away even after they’re gone, just to keep track of them or because they still feel somewhat connected to them.

This is inspired by the soul hearts from The Binding of Isaac, therefore one may consider their soulheartic genders genderisaac-in-nature, but this isn’t mandatory and one doesn’t have to be familiar with TBOI to use this term!  Anyone who finds it applicable can use it. This might be especially useful for genderhoarders. In the game, soul hearts are temporary hearts that go in front of the player’s red hearts, are not refilled like red hearts are, and are removed entirely when damage is taken. 

Flag: Above is the general soulheartic flag, and I’m also linking a Canva template for the flag so anyone can make their own flag variants if you want to specify that a gender you have is soulheartic! Basically, you change the heart, shine on the heart, and middle stripe color to match the flag of that gender that’s soulheartic.

Grammar wise: You can use soulheartic as a standalone term or as an adjective, or specify the genders that you have that are soulheartic - Ex: “Here’s my genderhoard! My soulheartic genders are boy and catgender. My main genders are..” “I’m a soulhearticcatgender!”

This is pretty similar to other xenogenders described as eventually going away, but it goes away permanently abruptly, is genderisaac-associated, aimed at categorization, and very customizable. This falls under genderflux.

Genderisaac: 

A fictigender & gamegender; A xenogender defined by relation to or being influenced by The Binding Of Isaac games. This gender is very flexible, and may include elements unique to each person who uses it which might make it ROIN, HIN, or nearly any other gender-in-nature term that aligns with The Binding of Isaac; Ones related to death, monsters, religion, abuse, trauma, etc. 

(Genderisaac is not exclusive to any group inherently, but of course only a neurodivergent person might experience it with elements of neurogender feelings, only an abuse survivor might experience it with elements of trauma relation, etc.)

It might also contain elements related to other games by Edmund, similar to the references to his other games in TBOI.

Flag colors and symbolism:

The red (#B31D1D) is sampled from the daimogender flag, acknowledging the potential relation to or kinship with demons that genderisaac might have. In this flag, it represents blood as well, and that is represented in the blood splatter in the middle of the flag.

The blue (#263042) is sampled right from The Blue Womb floor, and is meant to represent death, corpses, and the items related to these themes in TBOI.

The green (#1C8F00) is sampled from the Bob transformation, and is meant to represent illness, poison, and the items related to these themes in TBOI.

The yellow (#D6D74F) is sampled from the Midas Touch item, and is meant to represent both gold and urine, referencing the themes of grossness and greed that are frequent in the games, and the items that are part of that.
