Please concider signing this. While I’m 100% for people voicing their displeasure with Genderlocking, this might be a slightly more polite and respectful way to ask for it to be fix and might get the dev’s attention. so, there's been a disappointing announcement that the FF14 Viera will be a genderlocked race, so no bunny boys. Who knows - maybe a little way down the road they'll be implemented, but I won't hold my breath.

also, is anyone else slightly concerned by how white all the viera are? Like, I know that there are white viera in the FF12 canon, but seriously.

To those so tensed up about this whole “genderlock” thing going on with FFXIV and their female Viera and male Hrothgar in Shadowbringers wanting male Viera and female Hrothgar as well... They are special races. Streamlining them to be the exact same as the other races would make them less special.

You’re being nitpicky. Explore it first when it comes out, then criticize.

And this has been going on with so many more games and movies over the past few years. We keep getting a lot of information about upcoming titles, including trailers that give away most of the content most of the time and press releases that get spread like wildfire on every platform. Promotion wise it keeps the hype going. And yes, any publicity is good publicity. But it’s sickening how there’s more negative nitpicking these days than praise.

I like parts of the Final Fantasy series. I love Star Wars. I played the heck out of Mass Effect. And these three examples have all been under attack in the past two years. They make something for us and before it is even released, we burn it to the ground. Where I do understand the case with ME: Andromeda, I did wait until they were done patching most of it before I bought the game and I really enjoyed it. Any news surrounding Star Wars I try to avoid at any cost until I have seen the movie with my own eyes. That way I saw Solo: A Star Wars Story with a somewhat clear mind so I could draw my own conclusion: The movie was alright, CG pretty good, story wasn’t very Han Solo-ey though as it felt very muted. And with Final Fantasy XIV I’m just gonna wait until next year to get into it again, because I do want to see where the story is going.

24 hours later, I’ve had time to rethink the whole genderlock thing and.... Nope. Still not liking it. Still angry. They broke their promise from when Yoshi P took over. They made it incredibly sexist by having the male-only race be all about muscles and looking tought while the female-only race looks.. well.. like that. I’ve been unhappy before (Pagos...) but I’ve accepted it and moved on, but this is the first time i feel betrayed and full on angry. I gave XIV 6 years of my life, supported it at every turn, never unsubbed since launch, defended every decision, and now it feels like a slap in the face.
