Hey! Started using Tumblr recently in-part due to your Channel. I had a couple of questions about how things work on tumblr.
Is there a way to add more variety to what I get shown, Do I need to follow something?
2. What is the difference between comments and reblogs? I've seen them used in similar ways and I'm not sure which to do and when.
1, Yes, you've gotta follow blogs and tags to get more variety in your feed.
2, Reblogs are how posts are spread around on Tumblr. You can either add your own words to a reblog, or leave it blank. Comments are for talking directly to OP, or whoever is involved in the post, or just sharing your thoughts more privately compared to reblogging.
There's no limit to how many tags you want to use, or what kind of tags to use. Do you want to use organized tags that tell what topic(s) your contains or is about? Do you want to add a secret paragraph underneath your post? Do you want to smash the keyboard and use random characters to express your feelings? All of these and anything in between is valid. Just follow your heart.
@wamilaistired Follow whoever you want, and just have common decency and respect towards people, you should be fine. You'll get the hang of it here soon enough.
@malwarecheesefry Social standard? Universally known? Just play nice and don't be rude.
@lydianotdeetz Why are you going to the For You tab for posts? You should be following blogs and tags that you actually like. Block the "heartbroken" tag if you'd rather not see it anymore, and anything else you don't like for that matter. You are in charge of your Tumblr curating experience. You'll be getting more positivity in no time!
@redscreenofdeath Wow, it's like you haven't seen any of my videos specifically about Tumblr and people asking me how it works!
Maybe I should start putting together a playlist or something for people to learn Tumblr things...
