When our recently better football team was suddenly cut, everyone said, “It’s not the money, it’s politics,” but I don’t think everyone knew exactly what that meant.  This is the first time I’ve heard about this.  I am so angry that the Alabama Board of Trustees would allow such blatant tyranny.

Gene Bartow, who succeeded John Wooden at UCLA and later began UAB's athletic program, has died, UAB officials said. He was 81. Bartow, who was the president of the company that owns the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies and FedEx Forum, died Tuesday evening at his home in Birmingham, Ala., after a battle with stomach cancer, said university spokesman Norm Reilly.

Sorry to hear this. He was a very good coach. And John Wooden, who briefly lived at St. Simons Island in Georgia, was the best college coach of all time.
