hi there once again.

i have a few new questions, this time about Surnames:

so, if i remember correctly than orphans dont have surnames, correct? i assume that if a orphand gets adopted before adulthood, they simply get the surname of their family. so since MC isnt formerly adopted, they never had a surname until they needed to sign a document. which leads to the following questions:

is MC´s situation common? so does it mean if an orphan never receives an surname, they just have to think about one on the fly when they need to sign somethin for the first time? or is MC´s case unique? in that case what would be the usual procedures? would the owner of the orphanage sit down with the adult orphan and help them come up with a surname before sending them out to live on their own?

following this, assuming the oprhan finally chose their surname, are there other things that need to be done? like e.g. would an orphan/MC need to go to the nearest church/governmental building and "register" themselves with their new surname?

are there any "rules" for choosing ones surname? i guess something like "your not allowed to choose the surname of a (famous) noble family"/etc.

these questions are less lore-questions and more "gamplay"-questions:

4. will there be unique flavourtext/interaction if we choose one of the suggested surnames? i just found out (via a different ask) that the suggested surnames change depending on MC´s deity, so would e.g. people who learn about MC´s full name say something like "Sunsword? Your a follower of Nivari?" "Yes." "Thought so.", or something like that?

5. will there be unique flavourtext/interaction for each of the reasons (it was Sister Agamantha surname/MC read it somewhere/etc.) MC picked that surname? e.g. if MC chose their surname because it was Sister Agamantha`s one, could there maybe be an encounter where we learn more about her past ("Sunsword? your not related to Agamantha Sunsword, the famous adventurer"

For surnames!!

MC's situation isn't uncommon. There are a lot of orphans in Vert due to the sudden appearance of portals, roaming monsters, and general poverty that comes with home and crop destruction. Not many families can afford to take in orphans, and orphanages are usually run through successful churches. Most will give themselves a surname once they're of age to have an identity. Many, like MC, Maymie, and Raena, don't bother until they have to register their name somewhere, such as a guild, for a bank account, or for general employment.

New surnames aren't really kept on record anywhere beyond the village or town hall that keeps a census and for old and/or clerical families officially adding the child's name to the family tree. Too many people end up missing, dead, or drifting for any kind of large scale census to happen or be accurate for longer than a few months.

While there are general rules of manners, such as not taking on notable surnames from prestigious families, it can still happen. It boils down to if they're willing to risk having these families seek them out and 'rectify' the situation in order to keep their name, and therefore, bloodline unmuddied. Many places of employment won't accept people with surnames that are offensive or 'too foreign', so it's one thing that's considered, but it's not a hard law. I guess it would just depend on the person's determination to have that name lol

For gameplay!!

There will be some minor flavor text for the premade last names! It will likely be Raena approving of MCs choice and calling it fitting of their background. Other followers of MC's God will likely make comments about it during the game as well!

There will definitely be flavor/scenes that call back on MC's surname reasoning! Especially if it's Sister Agamantha's last name, Father Bardley's, or Aslo's. While we do learn more about Sister Agamantha's past, it will be through other avenues!

Other surname tidbit!! If Raena doesn't take MC's last name, she will have a God related surname that she confesses is Armsmaster Yoren's surname that she received permission to take and people will comment on it since Yoren was a rather famous Hero before she retired when her party disbanded. The potential surnames being: Brightbow, Tideshot, or Arrowpeak.

General Worldbuilding: Earth Jobs

As part of integrating with Earth life and society, many Cybertonians got jobs with and among humans. Here's some ideas for a few, and granted some are more funny than logical, but when has this franchise ever cared?

Astrotrain - Literally controls Earth's united railway network. He's surprisingly competent with scheduling and maintenence, and he's managed to keep traffic flowing amidst natural disasters. All he wants in return are retired traincars, engines and shuttles, and miles of track for his personal train set on the moon.

Jazz - Musician, and creator of several new genres of music on Earth. He loves collaborating with human bands.

Blaster - DJ and owner of a night club called "Auto-Beats" that caters to both humans and Cybertronians. His club gained massive popularity after Jazz's debut performance on the main stage, and Blaster uses it to help promote promising musicians and performers.

Soundwave - Upon hearing that Blaster opened a successful night club, Soundwave does as well. His is named "Superior Sound," and the rivalry between the two has become part of both sides' marketing campaigns. Rumble and Frenzy work alongside their host as bouncers, party planners, and social media managers.

Prowl - National Park Ranger and Environment Activist. He was initially interested in law enforcement, but that was short-lived and completely imploded after a quick look into cases of police brutality. Prowl genuinely loves Earth and its people, so he puts his all into making sure its natural beauty is preserved and protected.

Cosmos - External Mechanic for the International Space Station. (Okay so not ON Earth technically but whatever) In the AU, the ISS is much larger and can house a few dozen astronauts and cosmonauts out of a rotating pool of 200. Cosmos maintains the hull and external equipment, and handles anything that would normally require a dangerous spacewalk.

How do Akiridions reproduce? (Do they reproduce?)

This is a great question. Akiridions reproduce, but not in a way you’d probably expect. First of all, akiridions do not reproduce sexually. In fact, they don’t even truly require more than one of them to reproduce!

Reproduction in akiridions is completely asexual, and is done through the agitation of donor coreslick. Usually a bond will have all members contribute, which means many noble akiridions have parentage that is three or more akiridions contributing to their makeup. There is technically no limit to the number of ‘parents’ an akiridion could have, if you have samples of coreslick you can contribute those to a new akiridion.

Usually when one or more akiridions decide they wish to have a child, they will take samples of their own coreslick and have them placed into a vustal. Then the parent or parents will either shake the vustal by hand, or agitate it with a machine. Donation is something that can be done at home, as there are many ways an individual can give a sample of their coreslick. Things we would confuse for tears, saliva, blood, or other ‘bodily’ fluids can all be used for coreslick donation.

Through repeated agitation, the coreslick will eventually start to form small crystals. During this stage often the coreslick will be sifted through for any unsuitable looking particles. By about one parson the crystals forming in the coreslick mixture will begin to latch onto each other and crystallize further.

The forming core is generally considered a nodulate by two parsons, and has developed some of it’s own proto-coreslick within a thin membrane. Development from there would follow the growth chart that was previously discussed here.

Hey! Happy WbW. Hope you're well. For your question, what is technology like in your world? Is it more or less advanced than ours? How so?

So technology is obviously enhanced in the time of Rising Ark because they’re able to have spaceships where AI comes standard, but I’ll talk about the more contemporary setting instead.

Technology there is a little bit above ours, mainly because of the existence of Empowereds and Mages. Normal humans wanted a possible way to be equal, and to have some way to fight an empowered if the moment ever came.

The biggest technology that we don’t have is power suppressants.

There are two major flavors of power suppressant: General and Individual.

General is designed to work on larger groups, a light amount of a certain radiation that keeps powers from working. There have been multiple campaigns to reduce the use of this in various areas except where necessary (schools are primary target of removing this technology outright, and thus far it’s been removed for everything except tests in order to reduce cheating). It’s main purpose is to keep certain areas safe from the natural weapons empowereds have, like a weapon check.

Individual is designed to work on a specific person, and there are multiple ways to do this. That I will put under the cut.

1. The injection, which has been mostly banned except in medical cases where nothing else works to save someone from a power related incident. It uses the same material that provides the radiation for general power suppression, and essentially disrupts superhuman effects on the body. If it’s consistently taken by an empowered, their abilities turn in on them and begin destroying them from the inside out. It’s occasionally used to stop powers from manifesting in someone, but that’s been generally banned.

2. Opposition. The oldest method, which involves analyzing the specific superhuman and designing a system that counteracts their specific abilities. These are most commonly used for high priority prisoners in top security prisons in addition to general suppressants. Most prisons have solitary cells designed for the most common abilities to appear. This is of course expensive to do on a consistent large scale.

3. Selective fields. A smaller scale version of general that uses just enough radiation to suppress the abilities of one person. They most commonly appear as sets of jewelry that help determine the field itself. There’s been a push by certain people to consistently use these instead of irradiating a whole room. This is the newest method.

This is a simple possibly lame question, but it's been a wandering in my head for a bit. （´∇｀''） Back at the temple what was the typical day to day routine/life for MC and the other children? Did they have to wake up at dawn, tend land/care for farm animals or sing and pray at specific hours? Did Vana or Jem have anything similar ∘ ∘ ∘ ( °ヮ° ) ?

ive decided to split these question from my previous ask, since i like to avoid having one long/an ask with many questions (if possible). and also because i try to keep questions of a certain topic together.

the following questions are about proposals/weddings in Vert:

1.) What do typical proposals look like? do they differ depending on which deity you follow? 2.) would there be any issues for the proposal/wedding if the couple follows different deities? e.g. would one has to "convert" to the others deity? 3.) how would a wedding look like (small tidbits are fine)? what would be (if any) differences between the different deities? 4.) are poly-relationships common enough/accepted that a poly-wedding would be the same as a monogamous marriage? 5.) will we see the/a wedding happening during the story? would it happen only in the epilogue? or would it be left for headcannon?

I had to sit on this one for a minute because while I do have general wedding/marriage lore in mind, I hadn't thought extremely in depth about it yet! So thank you for giving me the excuse to flesh this part of the world out!!

Most proposals are generally similar to western proposals in that it involves a trinket — usually jewelry but not always — and asking the person to marry them. Proposals don't change based on Gods, but some do vary based on culture, such as in Aslo's culture it's common to propose with something handmade/grown by the person asking. Alpaca wool clothing/blankets are popular. Where Linzel is originally from, proposals went to the parents/guardians, who then decide if the match is acceptable or not. Defectors to different tribes is common amongst couples whose parents don't agree.

Conversion amongst the followers of different deities wouldn't be necessary, though many do choose to follow one God as a family to make church-going easier. Since the Gods work more as a group, each will have their favorite humans and keep them in mind as individuals rather than try and cultivate as many followers as possible! It's kinda like they keep pets for their amusement and also train them to do tasks haha. They're not overly concerned with their pets' relationships unless it makes their pet difficult to deal with.

For Jem, Raena, and Vana, a wedding would take place in a church that follows all Seven, such as Jem's home of Durth. Unless both parties can agree to be married under one specific God (such as Raena, since she follows the same God as MC). It would have plenty of sermons, singing, and Godly symbolism (Nivari followers married at noon, Peysca followers married with feet submerged in water, Anila followers married beneath an ash tree). For Linzel, Sweets, and Maymie a wedding would look like a large outdoor party, usually in a rented square somewhere in the city with beer tents and merchants and bards crowding the area to provide entertainment. The ceremony takes place in front of the bell tower, which is a relic of Relagor and people believe saying vows in front of it means a relationship will last for eternity. For Aslo, a wedding happens in his hometown. Villagers spend days feasting and weaving arches of wild flowers for the pair to walk through before they commit their vows by shouting them while standing at the edge of a cliff so the whole Mountain can hear their promises.

While poly marriages aren't very common, they're even less common amongst followers of Nivari and Melekoth, since they're married Gods and prefer marriage to take after their monogamous image. Poly marriages are far more common among followers of Myrtle (goddess of music and merrymaking), Relagor (God/dess of time) and Anila (what a chill God They are in comparison to everyone i swear haha). Poly marriages are treated as legal marriages on the same level as monogamous marriages as well!

As of now, what I have planned is that you can marry Aslo and Raena (and Vana can join this marriage) within the story itself, as they're the only characters who'd jump into commitment faster than they can blink. Each will also have a small wedding scene at different points of the game. As for all the other ROs, there will be a marriage/wedding in the epilogue (if choices lead there), though it's possible I will add a proposal scene for each towards the end. Gotta get in that desperate "we might not live through this so if we both survive, promise me we'll be together forever after..." lol

Hi! I got a question about the game is their only humans in this universe or are their other races like elves or gnomes?

Oooh this is a fun question!!! I'll answer as best I can without getting too spoilery!!!

So, in Vert, the world where MC lives, there are only humans. Everything else, no matter how "human-like" it appears (i.e. spirits, dryads/nyads, high level undead, and other human-esque intelligent monsters), is considered a monster, and therefore in need of elimination.

On the other side of the portals, however, there are no humans. But there are intelligent races, such as dragons, eldritch beings, and other such powers. Humans are considered intruders here and intelligent races either avoid them or attempt to kill them, depending on temperament and mood.

For the most part, the hostility between the two sides is what keeps the balance between them. Who knows what'd happen if they started to blend... hehe
