This update has the first half of Sentari Day Two (of three). It's roughly 40k words, and brings the game to about 46k words per playthrough. In this update you'll:
Start the morning with Miriyam
Reunite with or meet Vana
Meet your class Master
Train your specialization or skip it entirely
There's quite a lot of variation packed into this section, so please don't mind that the word count doesn't seem to align with the number of events haha. Part two will be some more shopping and interactions with Sweets and Maymie, so I'm looking forward to writing it! 🫡
Party of Four is an adult (18+) interactive fiction game with RPG, romance, and dungeon break themes written in ChoiceScript.
The known world of Vert is at peril from the appearance of portals: vortexes of mana that open into a land of dungeons separate from yours; filled with traps, mazes, and monsters. The populace is in constant fear of monsters that escape the portals and roam across the landscape. Your world relies on two things: the Disciples who band together with heroes to enter these dungeons and close the portals, and the Gods who Mark them.
You are an orphan that grew up in a church dedicated to one of three patron gods: Nivari, Goddess of the Sun; Peysca, God of the Ocean; and Anila, God of Wilderness. One day a rumor comes to light — a prophetic dream has been plaguing the upper clergy, depicting that you will be the next chosen Disciple and given a Divine Task both great and terrible.
You will head into the dungeons, you will fight, or you will suffer the consequences.
In Party of Four, you can:
Play as male, female, nonbinary, or trans; be gay, straight, bi; be aromantic, or on the ace spectrum.
Choose the God you follow: Nivari, Peysca, or Anila.
Choose your class: Warrior, Mage, or Healer. Differentiate your talent further by picking a specialization! Are you a faithful Warrior Templar, a whimsical Wind Mage, or maybe a bumbling Herbalist Healer?
Choose your four person party from a cast of colorful characters.
Explore dungeons using your skills, wit, luck, or stand behind your friends. Play a power fantasy or be a wet noodle.
Befriend a giant pack beetle that comes with you on your adventures.
Romance, befriend, or discover a situationship with a shieldmaiden, a himbo mage, an awkward healer, your childhood friend, an aloof ranger, an electric guildmate, or a mysterious bard.
Explore the city of Sentari and the sights it offers. Shop, train, and chat!
Become a feared vigilante of justice.
Pet the giant rat (or bat; or spider).
Graphic violence against fantasy creatures and humans.

Raena [she/her]: Your childhood friend and fellow orphan in the same church as you. She is the pride of the parish's Armsmaster and has been training on the bow since she could hold one. While she clings to you and your history together, she lets you go after receiving your Divine Task. Or so she says.
Vana Peacebearer [she/her]: A shieldmaiden from a clerical family. She is stoic and slow to warm to others, but will always reciprocate any kindness she is shown. Vana will follow the player character out of a sense of duty towards Disciples, but there is something that she desperately wants and cannot have... Can she be convinced to leave it all behind?
Maymie Fox [she/her]: A mage with an affinity for short and mid-range elemental attacks, her favorite being lightning. Maymie will do whatever it takes to come out as the top dog. As an ex-street rat, her morals are questionable at best, and vicious at worst. If you make a friend of her, she will drag you right to the top with her, whether you like it or not.
Jem Miye [he/him]: A little shy, and a lot awkward, Jem is the quintessential healer. Like you, he's a Disciple, but to the God Melekoth, who rules the Moon. He has a feminine appearance that makes him insecure, but you can build him up with your friendship (or love). However, behind those blue eyes lies something murky and desperate.
Linzel Syrat [he/they]: Linzel is just charming enough to mask how much he absolutely does not care about other people’s problems. He wants to join your party for the profit, although he'll be the last to admit he finds you interesting. He has a giant spider/bat/rat familiar named Fancy that follows him wherever he goes. (Familiar form based on player choice.)
Aslo Gergin [he/him]: Loud, brash, a man's man, Aslo is a mage who likes to fight on the front lines, no matter how ill-advised others think it is. He's a hot and cold person, always willing to reexamine his opinion of people on the fly. He loves fiercely and immediately, which can get him into trouble with ex-lovers and tavern patrons alike.
Sweets [they/them]: A follower and devotee to the Goddess Myrtle, patron of music and merrymaking, Sweets is a playfully mysterious bard who resides in Sentari, the capital of Vert. They enjoy getting other people to talk about themselves and making ballads for people they think will become famous. Your name is on a lot of tongues lately and Sweets is very interested to know more.

Hello everyone! The cogdemos for Party of Four has been updated!! This brings the game up to ~153k words w/out code and is roughly 41.5k words per playthrough.
Some things that happen in this update:

Hiii I’m new to this blog and I’m so sorry to ask this given how much I love how descriptive the RO’s, and if you are uncomfortable with this question, please ignore this😭But what would the RO’s reaction be if after a long night of socializing, they wake in bed next to someone who isn’t MC?. Not that the RO cheated but just another guest at the inn went into the wrong room and MC walks in on RO and said person

Jem: Is so startled by both MC's sudden appearance and the face of a stranger that he tumbles out of bed and just lays there for a minute while trying to grasp the situation. He wants to forget this whole thing ever happened.
Raena: Screams in surprise and steals all the blankets to cover herself, despite wearing sleeping robes. Runs out of the room and waits for MC to find her before she tries to explain what could have possibly happened for her to end up there.
Vana: Goes frighteningly still while her brain slowly catches up to the situation. Then she gets out of bed and walks calmly out of the room, telling MC she must have read the room number wrong, before never speaking about it ever again.
Linzel: Has to slowly disentangle himself from the stranger he accidentally ended up wrapping himself around during the night for cuddles. The stranger is probably just as traumatized as Linzel and MC. He'd laugh about it later, once he got out of the room.
Maymie: Kicks the stranger out of the bed in surprise, then demands to know why MC didn't come and find her earlier so this whole situation could have been prevented. She's not embarrassed! She has a reputation to uphold!
Aslo: Digs himself deeper and deeper into a hole by over explaining the situation and saying he doesn't know what's going on and please, please don't be mad at him?? He doesn't even know this person or what he did or didn't do!!
Sweets: Calmly slips out of bed and leads MC out of the room, their hand on MC's waist. They really need to work on some of these old habits...

Rat Fancy; I think would talk about what smells good and what doesn't all the time. She'd sniff something or someone and say, "I like this! Sweet! Yummy!" or "I don't like it! Stinky!" Somehow, I feel like having a big rat say they don't like the way you smell is a grave insult...
I don't think Bat Fancy would talk much but if she liked someone enough I could imagine her demanding them to pet her or to carry her by letting her cling to their rucksacks haha. "Scritches time? Petting time, now!"
Imagining everyone being terrified of Spider Fancy saying literally anything is... hehehe. But I think she'd ask people if they were hungry a lot and randomly bring them small animals and fruit she hunts/finds. "Hungry? *drags in dead rabbit* Food for you!" She's a nurturer... 🤭
Maybe it's been asked before but I can't find it. ROs cuddliness on a 1-10 scale?

Jem is a solid 7 when in private and a 3 in public. Do not perceive him.
Raena is an all around 6. She's too active for long cuddle sessions (unless they lead to something more active), but she does enjoy being within arm's reach at all times.
Vana is either a 2 or 4 depending on the weather. Gets cuddlier during storms because ✨ambience.✨
Linzel a 10 out of 10. Sleeping cuddles, awake cuddles, cuddling in restaurant benches — give him a cuddle inch and he will take a cuddle mile.
Maymie is about a 5. She's neither very cuddly but she also doesn't dislike them. In fact, she's more likely to use cuddles to her advantage against those that are weak to them.
Aslo is an 8 sober and a 10 when drunk. Favorite cuddle position is his partner laying on his chest, whether it be just their head or that he's become a full body mattress.
Sweets is generally a 7 all around, but in the summer becomes a 1. They love you but by the Gods don't touch them when it's this hot. Touching sweat is only permissible during sex and if it dries fast enough.
How would RO’s react to their young child asking “where do babies come from?”
Lmfaoooo. From personal experience, this is the best case scenario. It's worse when they come up to you with their own theories and you have to sit there politely and listen to a 4 year old explain that babies fall out of buttholes in extreme detail.
But to answer the ask!!!
Jem: feels extremely awkward, but also as a healer he feels highly responsible about health education, so he's gunna sit that kid down and explain everything in a short and concise way. He only stutters twice when saying the word 'vulva'.
Raena: Uhmmmmmmm... they grow on trees! That's all you need to know for now, sweetling!
Vana: A very curt, "From mommies." And then she's gone.
Linzel: ascribes to the elder passing knowledge idea, so tries to find someone older, wiser and willing to have this talk. Immediately asks the Guildmaster to do it with terrible results.
Maymie: sits down and gives her kiddo the rough and dirty of sex without any issue. She'd been desensitized to it since she was a kid herself.
Aslo: awkward laughter and deflects: "Hey are you hungry?"
Sweets: smiles nervously and says, "It's a secret I tell to big kids. So just wait, alright?"
Saw this ask elsewhere and it made me snort. So, now I gotta make sure it ends up everywhere: If mc accidentally falls and pull the RO's pants down with them, would the ROs pull their pants up first or help mc up first?
