Backstory
Pre-Service History: Earthborn Psychological Profile: Sole Survivor
Born on Earth, Elisabeth Shepard was one of the many children of low-income families that were kidnapped and sold to slavers and gangs. Three years at that time, she couldn’t remember much of her family. Her Mother Hannah and her Father Daniel - both serving in the Alliance Military - eventually gave up on trying to find her after five years of official and unofficial investigation. They started to move all across Alliance Space, where-ever Hannah and Daniel were stationed by the Alliance Military. Growing up, she ran with a gang called “The Reds”, who had bought her from a human slaver named Max Sartell. Two years after the start of her “career” with The Reds, Sartell was found dead. As Elisabeth got older, she started working as a drug courier and occasionally as a stripper at local clubs. After several of her friends were killed in a gang war between The Reds and another gang, called the “Hummingbirds”, she looked for ways to leave this miserable life behind and eventually found it, as she enlisted with the Alliance Military at age 18.
In the year 2177, she and her squad were sent to investigate a human colony on the outskirts of Alliance Space. It was her first time ever to take command, as she had just been promoted to Operations Chief five days ago. When the Thresher Maws - giant, wormlike creatures that burst from the ground without a warning and eat or crush anything in their way - hit the colony, the planned routine operation became hell itself. Screaming people everywhere, the sound of people crying and yelling in agony, her comrades being dragged into the ground or dissolved by acid right beside her - the memory of this traumatizing event never really disappeared. In the end, near the extraction zone, only she and Corporal Toombs, one of her subordinates, remained, but only seconds before extraction, a thresher maw ascended from the ground, spat a heap of acid at them and grabbed Toombs, leaving Shepard the only one who made it to the landing area and - even though she had to be treated for severe chemical burns - she became the famous “Sole Survivor” of the tragic events on Akuze.
Magical Enemies: A Simplified Breakdown (for Applicants)
Plot:
Varamadras Itaul is the Demonlord, he leads the Demonlands (his country, home of the race called Demons), which are allied with a bunch of other mostly northern countries, known collectively as The Cold North (also the name of their magicless army). He runs a guild of combat magicians called the DracoMancers, or simply Mancers. They’re mostly found by Lath magicians (magic detectors) as children and are then trained at a school called Morto, in the city of the same name. Many of them are what are called Dark Souls, and had to be rescued from the Goodlands before they were killed because of it. When Mancers graduate, they join a Group, under a Group Leader, and use their magic to fight the Knights.
The main thing to remember about the Mancers: they are few, rag-tag, persecuted, and nearly all of them have tragic backstories.
Deas Uef is the (new) King of Trolian, he leads the country of Trolian (home of the race called Trolls), which is allied with a bunch of mostly southern countries known collectively as The Goodlands (also the name of their magicless army). They hired a guild of combat magicians called the The Knights of Jewantes, or simply Knights. The Knights are mostly children without Dark Souls, found by Lath Magicians and then trained at a school called Jewantes. Many of them are from rich or noble families, and had to pay to get an education at the school. When Knights graduate, they join a Compan, under a Commander and use their magic to fight the Mancers.
The main thing to remember about the Knights: they are many, and a lot of them have privileged upbringings, but they’ve been raised with a lot of propaganda and misinformation about the war and how evil the Mancers are.
Magic:
Think Avatar or X-Men, not Harry Potter. There are no spells, it’s instinctual and often elemental. The Knights are less well-trained in its uses than the Mancers, on average. The Color types and Elemental types are more common than the Gem/Rare/Dragon types. To remember which color is which just takes memorization, though they do often suit the type (red=strength, white=spirits). “Phases” are power levels, with Phase One being the strongest and currently only Torque Martain (a Mancer) has that level of power.
Races:
Humans are not the default race. There is no real majority of one race or another. Ryons, Teccups, BloodHunters, etc. will often have visible and defining characteristics. All races are referred to as Beings, including Dragons. Members of different races can live for anywhere from normal human life spans to thousands of years or can even have immortality.
Current Events:
We’re fighting a battle right now! It’s a great time to join because its essentially like each character getting their own personal prompt or mission to play with, plus death and destruction!

UPDATE: Grading Rubric Change
The grading rubric has been changed. I have emailed it out to everyone. Essentially, however, the difference is this: youaresupposed to unify your Results and Discussion section into a "Results and Discussion" section (similarly to the way the sample papers do it). However, youshould still have "Results" and "Discussion" as separate sub-sections.
