State intervention for the intention of keeping plurality within the press.
The DCMS has issued a Public Interest Intervention Notice after the Daily Mail and General Trust plc acquisitioned JPI Media Publications Ltd: the publication body responsible for around 200 titles including ‘i’, ‘The Scotsman’ and the ‘Yorkshire Herald’.
This is bound to be a controversial decision due to the tensions between the press and state control.
